Seriously, who would buy this for a second? Not about Vitt, cuz who knows. But Williams was the voice of reason?
ESPN.com
Former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams testified that he tried to shut down the team's bounty system when the NFL began investigating but was overruled by interim head coach Joe Vitt, according to transcripts from appeals hearings obtained by The Associated Press.
According to the transcripts, Williams said then-assistant Vitt responded to a suggestion that the pay-for-pain setup be abandoned with an obscenity-filled speech about how NFL commissioner Roger Goodell "wasn't going to ... tell us to ... stop doing what won us the Super Bowl. This has been going on in the ... National Football League forever, and it will go on here forever, when they run (me) out of there, it will still go on."

Someone needs to put those quotes in that Hitler video.

So let me get this straight. Vitt was the enforcer and got 6 weeks and poor victim GW got the season. Yeah that passes the smell test.

I thought the second video of that link was more interesting. Click on the next one about roger reinstating Payton early. This will allow the Saints to get a deal done with him before another team.
While I seriously appreciate that I also feel it's a sad attempt to save whatever face is remaining on the NFL.
I still say frick YOU ROGER with the same emotions I did before this.

GW, who we know had the same program at two other stops, at least, was trying to shut the Saints program down? Yeah...

And I thought the NFL wanted to keep the transcripts secret.

Him getting back early would be nice because he'd at least get to meet his team. By the time the Superbowl is over those guys will be long gone, spread all over the country. He's never even met a bunch of our new players.

Gregg Williams is such a little bitch. If that was even remotely true do you think that Vitt would've only gotten a 6 game suspension?

Not to mention Vitt's kind of his subordinate. Also I don't see how the NFL could blow that 49er game speech out of proportion and then believe he tried to stop anything.

Williams is making himself out to be the good guy???
I'm shocked.

Vitt testified before a federal judge that something different happened.
Williams testified before a dude who has no legal standing.
Which is a stronger statement?

So is Williams still clinging to his fantasy that he'll be back in the league someday? No NFL team will ever touch him under any circumstance.

So let me get this straight: GW, the Defensive Coordinator, says his subordinate employee told he to continue the bounty program despite his instructions to stop it? (Never mind that his former teams have said he did the same thing there.) Never mind that a couple of weeks/months ago GW agreed to go along with this whole thing if the Rog would let him back in the league.
So now, the NFL's entire case appears to be based upon the testimony of a disgruntled former employee and another one who has now publicly offered to extort his willingness to go along with the ruse in return for his exoneration?
Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.
