Put a for sale sign on it when you get it home.

Make sure you have all your coast guard required stuff in it.

Having an extra plug or 2 is a good idea

Check trailer tires and bearings (unless it's brand new)

Any experience with boats before? Between now and the time you get it go out as much as possible with other people and ask to drive theirs. Hang out at a launch a few times for a while to learn what to do and not do launching and trailering your boat. Could go on and on but most important thing is dont forget to put plug in.

boat registration
trailer registration
check tires/bearings
check trailer lights

life jackets
throw cushion
air horn
rope
fire extinguisher

...covers the basics

eta: also if u were born after jan 1, 1984, you need to have a boater safety course if you're the driver (without someone else who has it) if stopped by green jeans and they ask for it, it's $250 if u don't have it

Keep extra parts in the boat, fuel filter, spark plugs, fuel line, etc. and tools to fix that type of stuff too

Thanks all.

I have a little experience (I duck hunt and fish) but I have always depended on my friends/family with boats for invites.

Get an inspection sticker for your boat trailer.

I didn't know about it either until someone started a thread about it on here earlier. Someone said the sheriffs department was at a boat ramp writing tickets for people that didn't have one.
