Bahamut for me. Like I said earlier been playing the past two weeks with the new changes.

I might start on FF14 if it pans out.

If SE didn't piss away everything they stubbornly learned over time from XI with the initial XIV abortion I would consider playing it. I really don't have time for MMO shite anyway though.

Actually last night I Youtubed some of the XI OST for nostalgia's sake. Felt very weird listening to Gustaberg. Is there XI esque party reliance with this reboot? I don't know jack about it.

I remember my first go-round as a WAR in Dunes and how much of an abortion that experience was. Dunno how I did that grind to endgame. Must have been the community.

Despite loving FF XI (RDM/WHM on Shiva), I don't think I'll be going back to it.

If there's one thing that game did right, it's definitely the music.

Soundtrack got to be more hit or miss with the expansions. Shame Uematsu didn't go past the original.

Did you like XII and XIII? I can't play any FF past X, things are too different.

I miss the traditional, random-battle, turned based games.

This is going to be an online MMO.

But i do hate everything past FF X except for 12. I did enjoy 12.

Well, 12 and 13 aren't traditional. They're still both turn-based at least.

It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario for Square. If they don't innovate, they'll get blasted. If they try to do new things, they get blasted for not doing the old things.

It's one of the reasons why the FF fanbase is so polarized.

Square should use the Nintendo approach, which is basically: t('.'t) this is our game franchise, if we feel like there is a need for innovation we will show you it.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. I have friends that love newer style RPGs but they can't stand the older FFs. I guess its really when you were introduced to them, and in my case, my first was Chrono and Earthbound.

I know that graphics are getting better, but imo, I think if they used the same graphics engine and battle system that was on say FFIX, but a completely new game, I think it would sell really well.

I really liked where they went with 12. It was tons of ways to play the game, plus the ability to pick your fights was awesome.

I just hated the story and the stories since X. I play FF for a good story and this shite they are putting out now doesnt interest me. My dislike for the franchise has Nothing to do with the gameplay.

Well, they're trying to get around the constant graphical improvement machine as its killing their company.

There's a reason why we have sequels of 13. They're re-using the same engine and a lot of the same assets because of the very high cost of developing it all in-house. With the highest development budgets introduced with HD consoles, developers are trying to get more bang for their buck.

Also, they've tried do some original ideas and new games with Bravely Default (3DS) and Four Warriors of Light (DS). They're essentially FF games without the name. They're far more classic/traditional types of RPGs.

What's the real costs? I haven't really played any mmos except for ffxi way back when on 360. There's the monthly fee still, correct?

With FFXIV, no one paid a monthly fee, but I imagine they'll institute the $12.95 fee that XI had.

Even so, this may save my ps3 from being only a blu-ray player.
