If you were there during the Cholly Mac years, you wouldn't ask this question.

Mac loved him some David Woodley.

I WAS there. In the stands. This may explain it. Cholly Mac was pissed at Ensminger's mom for hitting Coach up for child support all those years!

Didn't Ensminger sport a mohawk one year? Maybe pops was pissed at him for that.

I want to say it was in the fall of1979 , you are correct, I believe Ensminger had the mohawk as did Jerry Murphree and I believe some of the other teammates, shaved their heads in a show of solidarity to the Tiger team that year. dont remember the whole team doing it , just a few. Anyway, believe their picture was on the cover of the Ole Tiger Rag newspaper.

Que? I really don't get this response. I was just wondering how Woodley has aged in comparison to Ensminger.

He died of liver failure induced by alcoholism in 2003.

I think Steve has aged better. ETA, Although, he never got to quarterback a Super Bowl.

I suppose, ignorance is forgivable.

It is.

And from everything I've read, Mr. Woodley had a rough go at the end. something I wouldn't wish on anyone

Here's an interesting article about Woodley. Even alludes to how the "neagatigers" of his day, were one of the demons that may have helped do him in (for those who think such a thing is somehow a new phenomenon).

I don't know that was much of an issue. I knew Woodley back then, and even before LSU. I really did like the man, but he always was quirky, and he always had something bothering him beneath the surface. Could be funny as hell, but I believe he was never a happy or content person. RIP
