Olom was good back then. I remember the plaisances athletic prowess.

STM's man children would have to lose weight to be eligible to play certain positions. Stabler was a great coach.

I think they have a few now. How one of them didn't make it big was beyond me. Fastest white guy I have ever seen.

No mention of MBS?! We were the only team to beat STM in '03 regular season. Those were the glory days. Go Pelicans!

Bear, give me a rundown of the Mighty Bears from Holy Family.

Proud Alum here.

ETA: Do they still do the Dustin Bergeron Memorial Holiday Tournament at Holy Family?

When I was at HFS, we used to have some fricking BATTLES with St. George in that tournament.

I don't know a whole lot about Holy Family this season. Their name didn't pop up too much in my research which usually isn't a good thing. They had a nice team year last year. Holy Family isn't a perennial Elite 8 team, but did make the tournament last year.

They do still have the holiday tournament which is usually one of the best early season tournaments, and gives a good early season look at who are the contenders for the prestigious Elite 8 tournament.

I enjoyed the hf tourneys. The big guy with the overalls was always there. I think he may have been the AD.

Yup. That's Dubbie Waller. he's been the AD at HFS forever. My 41 year old brother was in kindergarten when he was hired. By the time I got to HFS, he had been there forever.

Great guy. He also helped run the "Sure Shot" basketball league in Port Allen. It was for little kids. He was always known for stopping the game at random points, calling a "technical foul" because a kid was in the stands and wasn't playing. He'd bring them down and let them shoot a free throw, and then everyone would cheer and the game would resume. Good times man.
