One thing I miss about Brunets was the oyster bar. Was always good. I have given Jones creek a few tries, its ot working for me. Acme has had a line the few times I tried it. Looks like I might end up at Dons next time. Any other place in BR I might be missing ?

It's a dying breed. Phil's, Dons, Giamancos, Brunets.

Not sure. I'm sad about it as well.

Technically prarieville I guess

Split a dozen raw today at don's with friend then bowl of crawfish bisque. they are selling gumbo for 54. Half gallon for 35. Good deal for people wanting gumbo. Giamancos was the best oyster bar in br. Rip.

RIP is right. Miss that place. I've had decent oysters at Mike Anderson's, although I haven't been this year. Parrains on Tuesdays are still quite a bargain, and a regular lunch stop for a couple of dozen.

Forgot about city cafe, use to eat lunch there often.. I'll give them a shot. Just getting a real oyster fork is a step up from JC sad to say.
On the half shell is good, just a little far for me.

Seriously. I can never seem to find good raw oysters in BR. Most places that have them serve pre-shucked & refrigerated, or banded oysters (same thing I guess)...or they shuck them fresh but the shucker sucks and I end up eating more shell than oyster.

I remember someone posted a thread a while back saying Hooters on Siegan actually had some good ones...pretty strange...

There is that Shuck's on the Levee place downtown, but if I had to guess oysters probably suck there.

Not an oyster bar, but I had an incredible dozen at Capital City Grill on Sherwood last week. Very salty, and several were 'head-tilters', so big you have to tilt your head back to get them in.

I believe most have been mentioned. I like the atmosphere and back patio deck at Parrains. Chimes is a good environment. Dons has good oysters but not much on Don's these days. Masons is a good place to go, to get a Bloody Mason and a few dozen.
-Chimes and Parrains- Tuesday half off
-Mason's Grill - $8 a dozen everyday (cheapest normal price in B.R.)
-Dons - Monday 35c a piece

Mike Anderson's (BR Location) has special on Tuesday and when we went last they were really good and got to sit at the bar and talked to shucker and they were good, salty and fresh. Def worth trying out

Their char-grilled oysters are good and I get boiled crawfish during the season from City Cafe. But the rest of their menu is not too good.

I like the place, and have tried a lot of their menu items only to be disappointed. Plus they're not consistent. That's sad, because it would seemingly not be that difficult for City Cafe to have better tasting food on their menu.
