Does LSU FB recruit better or develop talent better?

I think our defensive coaches do a good job at finding kids who may have been overlooked and have a huge ceiling that has yet to be untapped.

Example, for this year is DE Lewis Neal out of North Carolina. So called expects dont like his size but they disregard him but he looks to be a kid that will see the field next year at a true freshman in some form or another. Also to be honest over the year the state of Louisiana has been highly unscouted by these recruiting services and kids like DE Micheal Patterson, dont get the due they deserve.

I think whats hurting us the most on attracting high profile offensive kids is that LSU has now became known as a running school to most prospects. Whether its completly true or not that the view from the nation and a lot of bigtime athletes who want the ball in their hands now dont see LSU as a good choice unless they are a true RB. LSU has to make the change in the next years to prove LSU is just not one dimensional and that begins with hiring a competant OC and Miles keeping his nose out of the play calling.

You can not trust what these recruiting sites say about most recruits. There is a reason that these "Recruiting Analysts" are not on college staffs recruiting players for their school. Plus these guys try to cover a huge area and Louisiana is a place they overlook. Our staff is constantly at high school games in our home state watching the prospects play in live games. Compared to a guy just watching highlight reels and game film.

Also, the staff does an incredible job at developing the talent once it gets here. Especially, the strength and conditioning program.

Recruit! Louisiana talent is underrated. I've explained this phenomena elsewhere. Where the talent is the most dense it is always going to be underrated. That's because the ratings services want the audiences in the least dense areas. But they wouldn't pay attention if the services told the truth - your Michigan talent sucks!

We are not any more talented than the top sec schools or top schools around the country. So its got to be both. Good at finding and getting talent here. good at developing players for the nfl. Also good at graduating players for those that go onto to do something other than sports.

I was wondering how difficult it is to teach a kid to lay someone out. That being said, I don't have coaching experience. Maybe it's complex

i think if you look at what they put into the NFL it's fairly obvious that they develop very well. I would say that almost none come into college with the ability to go to the pros. Some only need to mature their game for a shot at the pros, but the vast majority need to work on their skills.

A little bit of both IMO. We get some big time recruits every year that play as freshman, but we also get those 3* no name kinda guys that come in and play alot early on too. I think LA is always 1 of the most underrated states when it comes to stars and recognition. We get guys like Claiborne, TM7, Hester, etc. who are small time recruits, but are steals when it comes to what they do at the college level. Eugene was a 3*, Jalen Mills was a 3* whos next best offer was from Baylor. We always get guys that are very underrated from high school, but turn out to be good. That goes to development and great recruiting.
