How can Tyson get any love when he (and the rest of that era) ducked Lewis? Then Lewis beats that arse and not legit?

So that's the exact opposite of what we're talking about (creating a storyline by building up a fighter giving them tomato cans). Brock was given the title shot & won due to how terrible the HW division was at the time. Brock is a pretty terrible fighter fwiw

Let's get something straight: Tyson, after he got out of prison, was a totally different (inferior)fighter. He had no discipline, he as a raging animal, and the boxers he faced (w/ the exception of Holyfield) were losing to him due to pure fear and intimidation. Tyson's skills were nowhere near what they were during the mid/late-80s.
You put mid/late 80s Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis and Tyson would've KO'd him, no doubt in my mind.

No doubt the potential is there, especially when 1 small group has all the power.
Honestly, it'd be better for the UFC to actually do this to some extent. This is a current problem where it's hard to build up a big name in the sport b/c it's almost impossible to win 10+ straight. This is something that is hurting tUFC, but that is why they are making it about the league/sport and not so much the individuals. Dana makes it known he will put the best against the very best....no sugar coating

Vitali Klitschko in his career has never been down on the cards at any point in any fight
He's also the only heavyweight champion in history to have never been knocked down, knocked out or TKO'd. Sure he didn't fight in the strongest era but he is the most dominant boxer in history and head to head I'll take him over anyone.

I remember my great uncle before he died (who was a world ranked fighter way back when Sugar Ray Robinson was coming up) talking about Tyson.
He said similar to what others are saying on here. He basically said if "the sport of boxing" doesn't get the best of him, he'll be THE GREATEST. Said he's never seen an animal that was so quick and hit so hard.
Of course "the sport of boxing" turned out to be Don King and Tyson himself and we know how that went.
I used to spend hours talking to him with him telling me how boxing was way back when and how the mafia controlled the sport...... Definitely some interesting stuff.

This is admirable in any era against any caliber opponent. Even the greats typically get caught by that random arse punch they never see coming.
