So I'm headed home today, and I get a text message from an unknown number. This young person absolutely obliterates the English language. Also, apparently his nickname is "big dick", at least that is what he sent after I asked who this was when he sent "sup dis jamie"  . Anyways, anyone else believe that text messaging, Facebook, and Twitter are helping destroy the English language with young people?

It's only with dumb people I find. All of my friends that are educated might use abbreviations here and there but type mostly correctly.

When I was young I moved to New York with romantic ideals and disovered a place that was MY New York. A few years later I moved away for a year and came back to a place that was different than MY New York. I was confused about how much it had changed. I then watched the New York documentary by one of the Burns brothers and came to understand that constant change had always been fundamental to New York's being.
The same is true with language. There is no such thing as the definitive English language. It has always been and always be evolving. Our inability to see that is only due to limited perspective due to limited time. You can hate or fight the change but it would be the same as hating that a river flows downstream.

Can't stand it, evey now and then when I look at Facebook it looks like I'm reading shite from Chick-fil-A cows.
