The 7th grade Northwest Louisiana football team advanced to the national semifinals to be played in the Alamodome January 4-6. This was a 64 team bracket with teams from all over the nation selected at the 7th and 8th grade level. Team NWLA, comprised of players from Evangel, Calvary, West Monroe, and Caddo Magnet, have won 4 games to get this far. They beat Southeast Louisiana 6-0 and Team Arkansas 38-0 to advance to Kansas City. This weekend in KC they beat Wichita 34-6 and Dallas 14-0. They will play the West Coast champion in San Antonio. That winner will play the winner between Maryland and South Florida. Congrats to these young men.

He's 8th grade. They didn't pick anyone from this area for 8th. They also lost in the first round in 8th. The defense on the 7th is ridiculous. Big boys from WM and SPEED on outside from Evangel. Nephew was Xenith National Player of the Day for throwing 3 TDs in 9 plays vs Arkansas. This week they put him at CB and he didn't play much QB.

The QB is my friends little brother, the top player in the class of 2017. He is going to be a star.

Connor Curry, 8th grade, they lost in the first round. He's really good. His WR is legit as well. They'll both be in San Antonio for the Eastbay All American game.

Caddo Middle Magnet has always had football. But it's not a school team. It's a 'club.' Many of the players do not actually attend CMM. They are 'ringers.'

I had forgotten that. I went there before we moved to OK but only played baseball and basketball.

You know more about them than me. Their players seem very well coached and they seem solid.

Not as of this year. My cousin's son transferred from Magnet to Byrd so he could play football.

I don't know about the ringer part, but the 7th and 8th grade teams each have 50 or more players. Along with full cheerleading squads and dance teams. It's a machine.
