I've got to admit that ad they just showed really sucked. That was clearly a "we don't know how to sell this movie so we will just list the stars."

People really need to get over Will Smith passing on this one. Jamie Foxx is a damn good actor and from what I've read he delivers a great performance in Django.

That ad was garbage. I'm not hating on the movie but the ad showed nothing about the movie other than the cast and their names. That simply was a shite ad.

Not like they have to do much to market it. All they need to do is what you said. List the stars and the fact it is a Tarantino project....profit.

I'm not harping on the movie itself. Just the crappy ad. I don't see how anyone can say anything other than that the ad sucked.

I recognize Foxx as a quality actor, but when I watch him I just see an arrogant a-hole. When I found out he was the main dude in Django, I thought it might get in the way of my enjoyment of the movie. However, from what I've seen in the trailers so far, the movie should be great enough and have enough great performances by guys like Christoph Waltz and Samuel Jackson to override my dislike of Foxx. I agree on the lack of necessity for marketing. It will have a built-in initial audience just because it is Tarantino, and if it is good enough then word of mouth will carry it the rest of the way. No marketing necessary.

I'll defer to Tarantino on this because he is a genius and earned the right not to be questioned
But I have to agree that Foxx's mega douche personality kinda rubs me wrong. Makes you not want him getting the credibility of a lead role in a QT film . Seems like Smith woulda been money in this

All you guys second guessing the choice of Foxx for Django will be pleasantly surprised with his performance. He was very, very good as Django.

The ad may not have told you anything about what the movie is about but that's not why the advertisers are paid. They are paid to get people to go see the movie and maybe the best way of doing that is listing the actors and director
