Got the lower built (Elite Tactical Weapons of Shreveport forged lower, Daniel Defense LPK, Ergo grip, Magpul ACS Stock)

I want to build an upper, and all I can find is the stripped upper, low profile gas block, gas tube, and a few barrels. It seems that everyone is out of BCG's (I was mainly interested in the Core15 Nickel Boron), Gasbuster Charging handles, and all quad rails (12+ inches).

What sites have you checked? I bought mine complete from peak fire arms and they seemed to have a lot in stock on their site.

I'll check that out, I have looked on quite a few sites (Brownells, Core15, YHM, etc.).

I'm sure I wouldn't have a problem finding a full gun or built upper, but the budget I am on right now has me slowly peice-milling this thing together, hope to be done in a year or so

Same boat your in, doing this on a budget. I ordered the black Friday upper from PSA and then the lower part kit from the christmas special this week. Been looking for the bcg, seems to be out everywhere I look. People are complaining PSA is taking a long time to ship.

BCM, Midway, Primary Arms, and Joe Bob Outfitters.

A few of the companies that I have used in the past that usually carry lots of AR products that arent as mainstream as the ones that you mentioned. Not a hipster, just hoping that they have what you want in stock.

PSA still has some- I just ordered one on Friday. It looks to me like a complete bolt Carrier group is the rare thing, but you can piece one together from a few different sites.

I'll look into piecing a BCG together if it comes down to it. Thanks for the site recommendations and info also. Joe Bob's is a nice site, but looks like they are out of all BCG's except for one particular Nickel Boron model.

Does anyone know why there is a shortage of parts? Is it the election scare?

I was just thinking, most people that are getting AR style rifles are either buying whole, or building a lower and buying a complete upper. I just didn't think that there would be a shortage on upper parts, unless there is a surplus of people building uppers from scratch, or the companies are having to use those parts to build complete rifles since they can't keep them on the shelves either.

Like I said before, I am not necessarily in a bind for the parts at the moment, since I am just slowly building my rifle. Hopefully after this rush, they can stock the shelves again and everything will be back to normal.

Post-election hysteria is more like it.

I don't know if Obama will pass anything down the road, but I know people giving into it and clearing gun shelves is really making prices go up. I do like that more civilians are arming up but I still don't think any legislation will pass. If it does, I doubt the southern states would follow that northern gun control shite anyway.

I agree with post election, went to two Academy stores in BR and Bass Pro and there were almost no .45 hollow points to be found, just a few light loads or off brands.
