If Mathieu replicated last season this year, would he win the Heisman?

assuming that LSU would have won the west due to winning an extra game, won the SEC title, and that he had no more suspensions, maybe.

Yes, IF he had played for the media darling Notre Dame.

If he would've stopped getting into trouble, not sure if he'd win it, but he'd more than likely be a finalist again.

The crowd he hung around with didn't help matters.

I do wish him well, still am amazed at his play making ability but his demons got the best of him.

No. Manziel's season has been way too strong for anyone else to have a chance - provided they don't play for Notre Dame.

Sure Manziel is fun as hell to watch, but had some major hiccups against our defense.

Which I think would have even been more drastic if Mathieu was playing as well.

It would be Manziel vs Mathieu as opposed to Manziel looking like he will run away with it

Picture this: Bama on our 20, down by three, throws that screen pass to Yeldon. It would have been TM7 blitzing instead of Mills. Mills blew the assignment and didn't pick up Yeldon. Instead of that TM7 disrupts the play, bats the ball, and runs it back for a TD. LSU is in the BCSCG and TM7 would win the Heisman.

Me too, sorry to do that

The only sports jersey I own is an LSU #7, got it for Christmas, was hoping to get it signed by him eventually

Demons?
What demons?
Mathieu's problems are self inflicted, not the result of outside dark forces working against him.
I respect his talent, effort and dedication, but I can't excuse his behavior. He knew what he was doing was wrong, illegal, and self destructive.
The only demon involved here was Mathieu himself.

Only, and only, if we'd won the NC last year, and were getting ready to play for it again this year. Everyone gets caught up in the Jim McMahon type of syndrome. When you're surrounded by greatness, there's a huge margin for error, and when everyone else has competently got your back, and doing their jobs, everyone looks great. Love Mathieu, and wish him the best.

This is actually quite possible.

Exactly. I'm not saying it was some force from an alternate dimension.

The guy couldn't stay away from drugs. (demons, vices, habits, what have you)

I agree. He only has himself to blame.

That's exactly what I was saying.

It was the right thing to do to kick him off the team.

I'm not going to hate on the kid but I'm not going to worship the ground he walks on either. Fair enough?

ETA: I do still wish him well. Hope he turns his life around but who knows.

I have to agree with you here

He isn't addicted to marijuana, he just liked getting high.

And knew that he shouldn't.

But did anyway.

And here we are.

I still say this was a great season considering all the chaos, but HB was the playmaker we missed this year that I believe would have made us 13-0.

i saw a study recently that even personalities can be inherited.
i've heard for years that alcoholism is genetically passed.
i've seen many people get clean and sober in later life (from their 20's to 60's) and they were always good people, just addicted.

whatever, in my elder years, i've learned to try to be more compassionate toward all.

This isn't a whining thread about losing TM7

It's just how last year he got his invite and most people knew he wasn't going to win it. . .

but this year I think he would have won by a convincing margin against the people up for it this year
