offensive-based team that lost its 2 best players on offense (QB/WR)

This.

And Brian Kelly had a system that Jones didn't duplicate exactly. System players at Cincy.

Every team loses key players and shouldnt jones have adapted the system to the players especially considering how successfull Kelly was. Saban ran a 3-4 at bama when he got there cause it fit his players and he ran with it even though he had a four man front at lsu

I know but his best year there was 3 losses, guys like Kelly, Meyer and sumlin mostly dominated their weaker conferences unlike jones

small schools don't just re-load with great players

hell, LSU didn't reload after mauck left us in 2003 and miles took 4 fricking years to find a competent replacement QB after flynn

no

he runs a 3-4 b/c he thinks it's superior. one of those things he picked up in the pros that has made him an even better CFB HC

saban also went 6-6 (including a loss to ULM) in bama's 1st year. how does THAT happen?

kelly had that 1 great year and left before he had to rebuild

meyer and sumlin weren't in BCS conferences

sumlin went fricking 5-7 in a horrible conference in 2010 (because he lost his QB). houston was also somewhat loaded thanks to briles. kelly didn't leave cinci as stocked as dantonio left it for kelly

and in no way am i dismissing kelly

he's talking about elite seasons, though. it's not like kelly was running through the big east undefeated every year

that's basically the standard he's judging jones by

shite man he won the big east twice, and had 10 wins and 9 wins the other two years; that is about as elite as it gets.
