What gets you more choked up: When the black maintenance guy is in the tunnel before the game or when his dad sees him run onto the field? It's a tough one but nothing beats a father-son moment.
Used to love this movie. Then I read into the story behind it and about real-life Rudy. fricking ruined it for me and only bolstered how much I loathe Notre Dame and its fans.

sadly this
it used to be my favorite sports movie.
I realize they usually jazz stuff up to make it more dramatic but the BS from this one is too much for me to overlook.
When you think about it, every team has a Rudy type player. What made him so special out of all of them to get a movie? Why not a movie about the Beer Man or the former Marine now playing for the Dallas Mavericks?
They really should make a Michael Lewis movie. Budweiser would get some free advertising too. It's a better story than the stupid Philadelphia Eagles movie.
BTW, if a teacher called out a student like the priest did today, they'd get fired.

This movie seriously blows. The real Rudy spent years whoring the story around to studios trying to convince everyone that it was great. Someone made it so he'd go away.
For me its when he finally gets the letter of acceptance to ND.
His Dad walking inside stadium was nice but then he says its the most beautiful sight he ever saw or whatever; thought his wife and son might give him a "WTF?" look.

This. Learning the true story really ruined it for me. Plus the whole propped up mystique of Notre Dame and their self-imposed never ending superiority based on nothing more than a myth has led me to harbor an unhealthy and irrational dislike for the school and the movie.
