Agree. We need to get to Omaha soon because the whole SB fiasco was a real kick in the dick. that sunday game was painful at the box. 2/15 can't get here soon enough.

Yessir HCB. That "SB fiasco" is comparable to 1/9/12 in my eyes. Different but similar. We gotta wash that bad taste out of our mouths and soon. Expecting a solid season this year.

i agree that the other two would be well considered flops, but a SR is far from a disappointment.

I understand what you're saying in general terms. But if you want to get specific, losing two games in a row with the opportunity to go to Omaha on the line in your back yard against a team with the prestige of SB is the epitome of disappointing.

3 years not making it to Omaha is disappointing for a program like LSU.

I hate to be that guy. But.... get us back to Omaha or his seat should start to become somewhat uncomfortably warm. 4 seasons of an Omaha drought should be a problem.

what are your expectations for the baseball team in terms of a decade?

maybe my expectations are low, but
8-9 years postseason
2-3 SEC regular season titles
3-4 super regional trips
2-3 omaha trips (edited because I changed my mind)
1 national title.

that's at a minimum. obviously more would be great.

at this point, coach has fulfilled those expectations quite well, IMO.

2-3 would probably be better. i'm talking reasonable here, and like I said, my expectations are much lower than most. this isn't the 90s anymore, and baseball across the country has gotten much better at the collegiate level, especially in the south

Well like I said, I don't want to be the guy with pitchforks wanting to fire the coach everytime he doesn't make it to Omaha.

BUT.. LSU baseball is a team that's supposed to be there. The fans expect to make that trip every summer. If PM fails to get us there in 1 of the next 2 seasons, that would be 5 consecutive seasons without an appearance in Omaha. Is that acceptable? For me, that's pushing it.

ETA: I don't think I'm being irrational and I'm trying my best not to be a homer or too rough on the coach. I just think a baseball power like LSU should be there pretty frequently.

I understand there's far more parody in college baseball but South Carolina has made the championship series three years in a row and running. I can't accept another team in the SEC (currently) lapping us in terms of recent postseason success.

I love SEC regular season championships and even CPM's multiple SEC tourney championships, but I count success in baseball in terms of trips to Omaha. (In before Florida State baseball joke)

no, i totally agree. i initially said 1-2, but i think 2-3 would be a bit better. that would be every 3-4 years. that's a recruiting cycle, and i don't think it's wrong to expect that. not at all. but to expect 5 trips to omaha every decade? that's pretty rough. skip was a once in a lifetime coach, and what he did with the program and team will never be matched. his shadow hangs over LSU's baseball program as much as the bear hangs over bama's football program, IMO.

I can certainly agree with this. Great analogy in fact.

I do not agree with this extension. Paul presents himself as a kind humble guy and I concur with that representation but the ballclub has not went to Omaha since ''09. Need to step it up and recruit better hitters.

We have a great recruiter and a shitty hitting coach. The sad part is that it's the same person.

so we're pretty close after I changed my omaha trips to 2-3. about 1 off. i think those are pretty reasonable, too.

i do agree with those who are upset about the lack of trips to omaha recently. hopefully this year they can get back
