Rhett was a QB under Malzahn at Shiloh.

For you Aubies, there was a game that really defined Gus' system in the 1999 playoffs between Shiloh and Junction City, a small town on the Arkansas/Louisiana border that runs the wishbone and always has beastly linemen and running backs. Long story short, Shiloh is a mostly white private school and Junction is a mostly black public school. Both at different ends of the state.

Junction's RB at the time was Marcus Godfrey. After his first 3 carries his stats were 3 carries, ~200 yards and 3 TDs. Junction went up 24-0 in the first quarter and I think they were up near 28-35 at halftime. If you read Gus' book he talked about going into the locking room and seeing his team run in while Junction was dragging in. That's when he decided to not put and go for onside kicks every play. Rhett ended up with like 700 yards passing.

Final score: Shiloh 70 Junction 64

Gus even writes in his book that this was the game that defined his system, so having Rhett as OC should be a big positive for you guys.

Now that story time is over, please return back to the dumpster fire of a dirty arse POS program you have. Fannin fumbled, Broderick didn't, you cheating bastards.

He was a GA 2 years ago.

Is this the worst hiring of an OC in SEC history?

What a joke...

Well, it would be if this guy was actually going to be like a real OC rather than cleaning the skid marks out of Malzahn's underwear.

Still, I would put Crowton above all others.

We had a worse OC just last year, Gus will be the playcaller here. Rhett knows his system the best though besides him.

That's what I was thinking. Wasn't CSL only an OC for like a year or something before Chiz hired him?

This was pretty much the perfect hire. It's his protege that runs his offense. There will be no tension between them and they both have the same goals in mind. Lashlee can just bring his own thoughts into the conversations on how to run the offense with Malzahn.

Personally, I like it.

NCAA would be forced to make 10 investigators move to Auburn full time to keep up with the infractions.

Are you stupid? Why would any offensive coach hire an experienced/accomplished offensive coordinator
