Absolutely. Why couldn't he? The offense as a whole needs to progress though I feel like which would help that.

I don't think he's shown the ability to throw is consistently 30 times a game. But what do I know.

We averaged about 71 plays per game last year.

IMO a good balance for next year:

Carlos Hyde 20 touches
Jordan Hall 10 touches
Braxton Miller 15 carries

So that leaves 25 passes a game.

I think that's about right, 20-25 attempts per game in 2013.

We even could bump Hyde up to 25 touches a game.

Hyde averaged 18.5 carries last year, but he carried it the most in the big games against Michigan(26) and Nebraska(28).

If Braxton can make the transition that Troy made from 05 to 06 we would be amazing.

Interesting that you point that out...

Troy threw the ball 237 times in 2005, and rushed 136 times.

In 2006 he threw 311 times, and rushed only 72 times.

No, he just needs to be de-Tresselized. Once Meyer took a more hands on approach midway through the season, the defense got better. Once Fickell adapts to Meyer's philosophy he will be fine. I think Mike Vrabel as an assitant to Fickell will help him a bunch over time.

We have defenders that need to attack, attack, attack. Speed kills on defense.

That's why I don't really think we lose much. Our young guys will fill in, we just need leaders.

Shazier can lead the LBs, Reggie can lead the DBs, and Jon Hankins can lead the DLmens.

Works out perfectly.

We have the talent. We have the speed.

I agree. Josh Perry (true freshman) was very solid at linebacker and will be a starter next year. If Grant gets it and Roby comes back (indications are that he will) we can withstand the loss of Big Hank with our depth on the defensive line. Both starters are back at safety and more stud defensive backs are coming in as freshman.

Add Michael Hill in the middle (6'3", 315 lbs from SC) as a DT possibly playing as a freshman. Also things are looking good to get Mike Mitchell as a LB and hopefully Trey Johnson from GA (Auburn decommit).

That's without even looking at Jalin Marshall coming in on the offensive side of the ball.

We have a really good core, an excellent coaching.

Coming of great sucess this year, I think we should be primed for a huge season.

I'm excited already.

And Urban gets a 1+ month jump on recruiting...

Yep. The schedule sucks. They'll need to be dominant.

After next year there are big OOC match ups every season. Hopefully the Big Ten will be stronger next year.

I'm scared shitless about our prospects at LB. Grant has his head up his butt and Josh Perry didn't impress me. They will need time to gel, but our DL will be good. Schutt has been impressive. (Chris Carter is a dumb fatass though.)

Also need another WR to step up. Hall will be a bunch of "meh" at the Harvinback role.

Fick will be fine. He had to bring a bunch of personalities and philosophies together and it was a work in progress. Come November, our defense was plenty good.

ETA:

for this thread.

Jalin Marshall, true freshman

If Big Hank was coming back I think we should be number 1 next year pre-season. It would take a BUNCH of pressure off our LBs. Our D has the potential to be rough(not good, rough) next year...
