Fallacious argument. Those aren't the only possibilities.

And what else is there? A raise 5 years out for meeting the stipulations of his current contract and that's it? If you believe that you're a tard. No offense.

If that was the case the AD would wait at least 3 years to re-evaluate his performance.

You don't have to make a threat to leverage the situation. All you have to do is make LSU aware of the situation somehow. The more distance the better.

Geez you are naive.

Perfect example of what is wrong with this board. I can think Miles is a good coach and a dumbass at times. Those aren't mutually exclusive unless you worship at his altar.

That isn't what you said. You said you agree that LSU made a move to keep Miles here implying you are happy they gave him a raise. But every other post you are bitching about him getting a raise. So which is it? Are you happy he got a raise or pissed off about it?

Yes you can think Miles is a good coach and a dumbass at times but that isn't what you said.

it's not uncommon in college football to extend contracts and adjust salaries for recruiting purposes.

If we are to believe the AD and Les, nothing happened. Well I'm calling bullshite on that.

I tend to agree, however who knows which side initiated the jockeying. The arky shot may have been a counter-punch.

We expect fans to have loyalty to the program and they are scourged if they say anything negative. We expect players and former players to have loyalty to the program and they are damned if they don't express this or their actions bring down the program. Yet somehow, the coach, who is certainly the most important of the three gets a pass.

He can "talk" with Michigan or Arkansas about going there and somehow this is not disloyal? On the one hand he is just a paid employee who goes where the dollar and job conditions are the best. On the other he is the face of LSU football and all it represents.

If a player has the nerve to transfer, he has to sit out a year. A coach? No problem, here today and gone tomorrow with maybe a press conference in between.

Money talks and bullshite walks and coaches are full of both!

You don't comprehend what you read very well do you big guy?

The poster I was commenting to has repeatedly said in this thread the word "threaten". Since he keeps saying that I would like to know who was it that reported that Miles threatened to leave.

You kept saying Miles threatened to leave. Where/when did he threaten to leave??

Presenting an option to leave is a threat to leave from the AD's perspective. If no real threat was perceived, no renegotiation of his contract would have occurred.

I don't know. I don't work in the athletic department and neither do you, I suspect.

Salary escalation in general? Lots of openings and the possibility that Miles will be on the radar of schools looking for a new coach? Keeping him happy with a pre-emptive raise?

LSU under Les Miles is one of the most overrated teams in the nation. Rivals did an article a while back. Les disappoints yearly, finishing lower than where he starts in the preseason.

I don't disagree, but not 5 years out.

Arky wasn't the only school with an opening. AD might be thinking his name will come up in multiple searches.

Dude if you can't understand the different between a direct threat and an implication - and the fact that they might have the same psychological effect on our AD (a perceived threat) I don't know what to tell you.

How's that for a comeback? You. Don't. Get. It.

How do you know? Funny how you just make stuff up and then preach it on here like you know it to be a fact.

This brings me back to the original question...he hadn't gotten a raise since 2007...do you think that he did not deserve an increase in pay when it happens all the time in college football?

My posts aren't directed at Les specifically. I expect bullshite from any coach's coach-speak. My posts are directed at the posters that are gobbling up this shite like it was covered in cream cheese and pumpkin spice.

Fair enough possibility but the is bizarre. There's a segment that would be as disappointed in CLM's success than Saban's failure.

Some of us are so ate up with Bama, that we can't see the excellence that is LSU football.

An excellence I have never before seen in my lifetime as an LSU fan.

I would like to play for a NC every year, but I can live very well as a fan knowing LSU has played for 3 NC in the last 10 yrs.

Any LSU fan who can't, well, that's their problem. I'm just glad its not mine.
