starting LSU out so high in 2008 after RP left was the biggest issue there

...and of course 2008/2009 we can give RP a big thank you. Good post.

There's no comfort for the Saban fanbase here. They've made their bed, it's fitting and deserved they lie in it....probably till 2025 or so. Time lost that will never be regained.

Wow! Coach Les Miles.....what a class act. He always treats his players with the respect they deserve. Defends them with passion, on occassion. Never humiliates his players by spanking them (literally) in front of a national audience. He's honest, loyal, and unaffected by the office. We didn't get the NC this year....but we will eventually...and sooner rather than later.

The LSU Nation is lucky to have this guy.

Unfortunately, those 3 calls were the difference in the National Championship and the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

At least he let it all hang out though.

Faking a FG on 4th and 12 with Bama looking for the fake isn't "letting it all hang out".
It's stupid coaching.

That said, I think, overall, Miles did a good job this year.

LSU under Les Miles is one of the most overrated teams in the nation. Rivals did an article a while back.

year - preseason AP/final AP
2005 - 5/6
2006 - 8/3
2007 - 2/1
2008 - 8/UR thanks RP
2009 - 11/17 thanks RP
2010 - 21/8
2011 - 4/2
2012 - 3/8?

Les disappoints yearly, finishing lower than where he starts in the preseason.

Out of 8 years half is improved ranking. 2 we were stuck with Lee/JJ as freshmen/sophomores, 2 were still top 10 finishes. Unfortunate that what is actually true doesn't matter.

I think that he didn't have faith in the kicker to make that long kick. If that is the case then a pooch punt would have been a better call.

they are jealous and angry, particularly if they are living in their mother's basement

Anyone around for awhile knows that many of the Miles bashers or little faith guys here now were also here in 08, 09 shouting from the roof tops their opinion that LM needed to go cause he was leading LSU to mediocrity and his only success came from the Saban leftovers. LSU would never again be a force in the SEC or be able to compete with the top teams in the SEC or nationally.

Well, we all know how that worked out for them, huh.

I do think that some of them are "angry", but their anger comes from the fact that Miles has made them and their opinion of the downward trend facing LSU football if he was allowed to remain look like the rantings of sports uneducated, foolish malcontents.

A particular 'LSU fan' posted "4 out of 5 in 2013 " a couple of days ago...the assumption being UA beats ND this year then wins BCS CG next year also. Fair enough possibility but the is bizarre. There's a segment that would be as disappointed in CLM's success than Saban's failure.

You are missing the point. Why was he threatening to leave? He said the Arky deal wasn't legit so?

He was already under contract so AGAIN why threaten to leave? To what end? To where? WHY?

He just said to leave LSU would be foolish...so why threaten anything?

Not sure how people think this way.

You do realize he hadnt had a raise since 2007 right?

Meaning he didn't get one after going 13-0 winning a SEC Championship and taking his team to the National Championship...

So the Arkansas thing was all just a coincidence then? If you believe that I've got some ocean front property in Arizona I'd like to sell you.

The poster I was responding to.

What OTHER leverage is there to renegotiate an agreed upon contract with FIVE fricking years left on it?

Think for a second.
