I would love to hunt Sage, you heard anything on RR, a buddy of mine showed me some pics of his buddy smacking the mallards off the river up there.

I don't hunt that far west. I pretty much stay in the NE. Wham break is actually part of sage, but not what you're thinking of.

Is that the new area that was donated this year? Would you be interested in possible going up to ARK? thinking Felsenthal or White River NWR, I need to check the water levels first.

Btw.. I said west, I meant south.. Idk wtf I was thinking. I'd love to go back to Arkansas!! However, I haven't heard any great reports from anybody. I hunted Overflow a few years ago and had the best hunt of my entire life!!

Wham became part of Sage last year. It was crazy opening weekend, and I plan on it being the same way opening of 2nd split. We had a group of HUNDREDS of teal (no exaggeration) light in our dekes and were trying to scare them off for the big ducks!!

White River NWR
I've hunted there every January for the past 7 years, and I can't ever remember having a problem with low water. Is it seriously that low this year?

I hunt White River in Clarendon, right now it is at 9.5 feet, flood stage being 26...timber hunting unlikely this year where I'm at.

Learn how to compress air using your diaphragm. With your mouth wide open start exhaling and slam the flow off tight without closing your mouth. Also, if your cheeks are swelling like Louis Armstrong when you blow you're doing it wrong. After you get used to using your diaphragm you can also use your tongue to regulate how air enters the call.

This is rather solid advice, and is obviously coming from someone that knows what he's doing.

I'd focus less on "what to say", and more on "how to say it".

Until your air starts coming from the gut, you'll only be mediorcre at duck calling. There are calls out there nowadays that make make a "blower" (as opposed to a "grunter") a decent caller.....but just decent.....

I've heard mixed reports about felsenthal. Some people have been hammering them, some haven't seen much. Buddy of mine hunts south of mcghee and says they are stockpiled in there.
