So impressed with these German teams in this years Champions League. I fancy Bayern Munich to win it.

The Premier League can still lay claim to the most exciting league in the world but the Spanish and German leagues posses more quality IMO.

In all honesty, though, that was probably the weakest CL group I've ever seen. United won the first four, clinched the group, and sleepwalked through the last two.

I figured y'all would say that.

Those most impressive teams I've watched in the CL so far have been Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Like I said before this is probably the worst Premier League in a long time. The Bundesliga may have a runaway favorite at this time, but its best challengers are far better than anything the Premier League has to offer.

Valencia, Malaga and Atletico Madrid have really made La Liga much more competitive this year.

And Bayern's blistering form in the Bundesliga makes them even more dangerous in the knockout rounds.

Badstuber is going to be out for a while so centerback is extremely thin for Bayern. Dante and Boateng need to stay healthy all year or we'll have combinations of Tymoschuk, Javi Martinez, and Daniel van Buyten playing center back. I predict the second half of the season will be much closer.

Bayern will need to find more depth at the back in order to win the CL this year. They're going to try to get Benedikt Howedes but I don't think Schalke will sell. Need to sign someone though.

Bads is out for 6 months and I'd assume boatengs straight red will have him out for 3 champions league games. Our cb cover is in the form of 3 DM's one of which is currently out. Robben somehow injured another body part while resting an injury so Im a bit irritated with him. Strong team though, if we can draw well in the round of 16 things will be alright. Still not predicting a repeat finals appearance

Undoubtedly a "weak" year in the PL. If you want to go by CL success though, take a look at the amount of PL semifinalists/finalists compared to other leagues over the past decade or so.

I'm talking about now though. My whole point has been that there's a power shift happening in European soccer even though most on this board still consider the Bundesliga a second-rate league.

Well there's no doubt about that. Rise of the Bundesliga, fall of La Liga happening as we speak. I posted a good article about that a few months ago on here.

I don't necessarily think La Liga is falling yet, although the Spanish economy makes it seem inevitable. They have some very solid teams.

I never got this impression. I thought most, if not all of us, saw the Germans on par with the English.

Second-rate as in...? I think it's below La Liga and the EPL, but it's rising. Better than Serie A for sure now.

It's a sell first league outside of the top 2. Does not transition into sustainable success. The English and German economies allow their clubs to pay top dollar to keep their stars in domestic leagues AND buy up plenty of talent from Spain. La Liga is in a slow decline and who knows what it will look like if the Ronaldo rumors happen to be true. The sad thing is most clubs in Spain are content making a buck since they know their chances of competing with RM/Barca are slim as can be.

English soccer would crumble if faced with similar circumstances since their academies aren't in the same stratosphere as Spain, Germany or the Netherlands for that matter.
