Thank God they didn't shoot a young 8 pt basket rack or the OB would be all over them.

I would've thought the spots would be faded this time of year. When do Thistlewaite deer rut? I have seen some with very faint spots so I won't judge too harshly. Of it was Bambi like bright white it's a diff story.

You still can't stuff it behind your seat, you need to report your mistake and I bet if it is fawn with very faint spots you get a little leeway.

But he did shoot it with a shotgun, so I suppose it was pretty damn close.

I don't agree with this. What if these guys were literally hunting to feed a family because that was their only means of survival. I don't think the state should claim ownership of that deer and make them pay replacement cost. I understand conservation and whatnot but frick..

If they knocked off a bank and shot a teller to feed their family, is that ok too? Laws are laws.

That's pretty stupid, actually. Between the cost of their firearms, ammo and hunting license they could have bought more beef then that little deer would give em. Fact is that there are some real assholes in the woods.

As far as the severity of the punishment, good. For every one person they catch 10 get away with it. Got to make the risk not worth the benefit.
