Exactly what Red Hawk is saying. This guy is an AD, and he's saying that they "promised him" and that it's enforcable in some way?? Give me a break. He even mentions he SIGNED an agreement with the Liberty Bowl that Tech would go to the Liberty Bowl if no Big 10 team was available. If that's the case, and the bowl later says "well, we're going to select you EVEN IF a Big 10 team is available" then you GET IT IN WRITING!!

Would he stand for extending his coach's contract with a promise? "Hey, I know a lot of schools are sniffing you and would like to hire you. I'd like to extend your contract, coach. What you say we go to the doughnut shop, discuss terms of your extension making sure you can't leave for the next 5 years, and when we agree on terms, screw the lawyers. We don't need to document it in writing." Would he ever do that? Of course not. So now he's claiming "they promised us over the phone that they would select us"?

Quite simply, he relied on an oral promise and didn't insist on a written agreement. That's stupid. He should be fired.

(Also love how he throws the coach and school President under the bus too - "but we all agreed"! So it's not just my fault, it's lots of people's fault!)

The bolded part is what is wrong with your statement. With these high of stakes you always get it in writing.

A written statement? Cajun fans won't tell you, they're too busy being dipshits over this, but ask them what they think of written agreements with bowl committees.

The irony of it all is the involvement of the Independence Bowl. Wink wink

Les Miles did it.

Hes spinning. Anybody who is halfway close to these programs knows that this had nothing to do with "timing". It had to do with the prospect of playing an opponent you have been trying desparately to duck. Sounds crazy, I know. But that's what this was. Everything you are now hearing is for the purpose of avoiding that fact. A big smokescreen.

The AD doesn't deny not wanting to play a Sunbelt or MAC team. Advocare backed the bowl committee into a corner with their preference of Ohio.

Dear La Tech:

You were the third place in the WAC. You were lucky to be even sniffing a bowl game and the fact you told a bowl committee that you wanted to wait for a prettier prom date is hysterical by itself. The payout for the Liberty and Independence Bowl is comparable ($1.7m per team vs. $1.1m per team in 2011). Maybe it's time to admit you really\, really, really did not want to play ULM.

They'd get more money and practice time by playing a MAC or Sunbelt team. Instead, they can take their arrogance and superiority to their living rooms where they can watch bowl games instead of playing in them.

Dear Tech,

You are Tech. The hot girl is not going home with you when the bar closes. Get any piece of arse you can get and be happy because you don't really deserve that. You are Tech.

Advocare, whose CEO went to La Tech, wanted Ohio so badly the Indy Bowl invited Tech to be in their game twice last week.

Yea, they were really backed into a corner.

Collectively, we decided the chance to play on New Year’s Day in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, if we were traded from the Liberty Bowl to the Heart of Dallas Bowl or in the Liberty Bowl, was a special opportunity for our program and a logical next step since we had played in the Independence Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl in recent years.

The lawyers who penned this shite are retarded, collectively. "if we were traded from the Liberty Bowl to the Heart of Dallas Bowl OR in the Liberty Bowl..." STFU

Spurning the Indy Bowl and calling-out the Liberty Bowl in the same week...this guy is burning every bridge in sight!

Good luck ever getting another bowl in the future.
