Mrs. Debaser and I are headed to New York next week and she has made some reservations:

La Esquina
JoJo
Jungsik OR Ma Peche … res for both at the same time.

Other possibilities are :

ABC Kitchen
Central Park Boathouse
Il Gattopordo

I think we have the fine dining front covered and i was hoping some FDB poster could help out with some more casual must eat kind of places. I saw that there are a lot of eateries on 9th Avenue that may fit the bill.

Going up to see the Stones and catch a couple plays.

TIA!

Lombardi's Pizza is really good.

Really liked Momofuku Ssam (but you have Ma Peche on that). Gramercy Tavern, Earl's Beer and Cheese, and Eataly can fit in the more casual spots (although that is not a perfect fit for Gramercy).

I really enjoyed ABC Kitchen. If you want something more casual, their tapas restaurant, Pipa, is next door.

I think Ma Peche has gone downhill since Tien Ho left the kitchen a while back. I've eaten there probably half a dozen times and each meal was of a lesser quality than the previous one. The other momofuku restaurants are better IMO. Eataly is a good bet, just don't go around 5-6 during the week, especially on Friday's, it's mobbed.

I'd definitely hit one of Flays spots....I've had Mesa and Bar American (sp?) both were very good. Pastis is also a solid spot, it's in the meat packing district if I recall correctly (no homo).

I loved Luke's Lobster for a lobster roll and other lobster items. He has a great background story. Very legit lobster rolls!

Lobster Roll at Pearl Oyster bar in Greenwich Village is hard to beat.
