Should there be an NCAA policy that you can not hire a coach until after the season is over? It just lacks charachter to me. Look at how many teams are screwed out of good coach. The players are the ones that get the shaft. I just have a problem with coaches leaving their teams weeks before their bowl games. Wisconsin, Kent State, Arkansas St, N Illinois, Florida St ect all just lost coaches. What do you guys think?

I think it is fine, with recruiting and all, it would be nice to have your situation figured out before signing day.

So, they have to stay where they are and coach the bowl game. Then they can be interviewed and hired with just a few weeks to go until NLOID.

Either way one school gets screwed. The sooner you cut ties the sooner the new coaches can begin recruiting for their new school and buttoning up recruits that are already on board. Beliema is an idiot if he wants to stay to coach the Rose Bowl at Wisconsin. That's just stupid.

I see both sides, which is a potential problem with "early signing" periods locking kids in. If the coach leaves, kids are screwed, but the kids can't leave

I also understand that, for example, Smart leaving Bama could really hurt them in the NCG. I think LSU had a coach leaving in 2007 before the NCG, which didn't hurt them giving OSU sucked donkey balls in that game

Pelini had already been hired by Nebraska but still coached in the BCSNCG. I believe Osborne encouraged him to stick around and coach the game, maybe so he could show off his ring to recruits.
