there may be some truth to your analysis; however, for years I have been saying that we are an undisciplined team.
as a former coach I will tell you that
PRACTICE does not make perfect.
Perfect PRACTICE makes perfect.
whatever level of discipline is maintained during practice, is what will show up in the game.
I have seen too many dumb penalties such a "lining up in the neutral zone".. if yiou are not called on practice, when you get tired on the field, you are likely to make the errors.
I have also seen a little more leniency towards other teams at their home field....specially if THEIR coach has been working the refs.

Miles manhood is bigger than sabans causing saban to complain to the refs where they realize they too are inadequate and now we have a case of penis envy in which the refs decide to punish miles team.

Actually, it goes farther than this. If you look prior to 2002 at BOTH Alabama and Auburn, their penalties are similar to the rest of the SEC teams. Begining in 2002, both of these teams' penalties nosedive as compared to the rest of the SEC. Guess who arrived in 2002...none other than Mike Slive. Since then Alabama and Auburn have consistantly had fewer penalties than all of the other SEC teams. This is almost statistically impossible. We all see the holds...they just don't get called...why not?...the head of the SEC does not want them to be called.
Would be really be interesting to follow the money trail for some of these SEC office folks and referees.all all

You're right about the holds, and its the ones refs almost always call- the hands extended holding jerseys. They're were 2 in a row like that in the SECCG. Richt even went out on the field screaming about holding after the 2nd one.

More than the whole number of penalties for Bama, I would love to see what penalties occurred in their favor on 3rd downs or penalties that negated an opponents TD or very long gain. Just curious.
AS far as penalties during Sabans tenure at LSU, I would be willing to bet the majority were for blocks in the back on any return of more than 10 yards. It was laughable it occurred so often.

This is solid information that is worth more analysis, but you are right in your statement...generally speaking.
That said, after the game due to all the commentary past/present of bama bias, I rewatched the game three times at normal speed just for the hell of it looking to see missed calls (both sides). Pencil and paper method: 11-missed calls against bama; 5-holds, 2-PI, 1-PF, 1-IM (back in motion moving toward los, 1-OS and 1 "too many on los". 3-missed calls against LSU; 1-hold, 1-PF and 1-IM (same as bama's). Just sayin' it's something inconsequential like jersey color...right?
PS: I'd like to see one of these statistical whizzkids put a complete anaysis together for publication in the Advocate or sent to Tim Brando...might get some traction!
