Can you narrow it down to just holding calls?

I agree. My method still proves a difference between LSU and Alabama.
Since you seem to have a better understanding of statistics, maybe you could perform the test you suggested?

sure,
email me the raw data, and I'll be happy to write the code and email you the results.
my screenname at gmail dot com.
All you need is the number of penalties each game by both teams?
I can email that to you, but it is as simple as going to both teams website and finding the box score of each team. Presently, I have the data scribbled on loose leaf.
I did an internet standard error and t test calculator, btw.

time I dont have/really want to spend. But I will write the code and do the analysis. Maybe we could collaborate on an article for TD on it if you want, maybe Chicken would even post it on the front page
Anyway, those are my terms as a statistical consultant.

It is kinda interesting that the 89 penalties in 2003 and the 73 penalties in 2004 that LSU had under Saban are more than ANY Alabama team had in that 10 year stretch.
The listed penalties per year are in backwards order, 2012 is first, so 89 is 2012. Sorry, probably should have put them in chrono order.

Numbers don't lie, fellas. Why is everybody busting balls over actual statistics? I am not out beating the bushes and crying foul over every perceived discrepancy but this (if true) is pretty legit.

awful method.
You should compare the penalties against the same teams using a mutivariate ANOVA with an auto-regressive error structure.
You probability value for the tail of 0.0001 seems absurd anyway. Did you use a 1 or two tailed test? What was your null hypothesis?
...frickin nerds.....

This suggests that we aren't as disciplined and play more aggressive football.
Which, contrary to your belief, is actually more likely than a bias towards alabama.

What gets me is the way the officials seem to gloat over calling a penalty against LSU in Alabama game, particularly in T Town.
I also thought Georgia got some lousy calls and spots in the CG.
