1) Tredavious White CB: Shutdown potiential, should continue our tradition of first round DBs. Ballhawking playmaker. Should see early PT

2) Frank Herron DE: Finished the year with 14 sacks, knows how to pressure the QB. I think it may take him a year or two to hit the field, but once he gets on, it'll be tough to take him off.

3) Ethan Pocic OT: Prototypical LT. Rettig or Jennings is gonna get real comfy with him protecting their blindside. Massive with good feet work. Good knee bend, should be a high draft pick.

4) Josh Boutte OG: Nasty is the first word associated with him. Guys a mauler. Going to excel in the run game. Looking forward to him on the inside, should form a nice duo with Pocic or Alexander

5) Anthony Jennings QB: Listed as a dual threat, but dont let that fool you. Guy has insane accuracy and a great arm... and yes he is fast. Can make time in the pocket but is a THROW FIRST QB. Will be a great battle with Rettig in the future

6) Hayden Rettig QB: Protypical QB 6'4 needs a little weight but the guy is going to be a good one. Strong accurate arm, good pocket awareness. This is a time of excitement for LSU fans with two GREAT Qb's coming in this class

7) DeSean Smith TE: where to start? This is something we have NEVER had at LSU. a HUGE threat at TE. Coaches can get creative with him like Eifert at Notre Dame. TE Slot WR doesnt matter. He can do it all. Rettig or Jennings will LOVE this guy and LSU fans will too

8) Jeryl Brazil: Speed demon. Trindon Holliday track speed fast. Will bring more speed at the return positions than anything. Can also play DB or WR, preferably both like boykin did at georgia.

9) Jeremy Cutrer S: Has to make the grades, but a huge position of need. great height and speed.

10) John Diarse WR: I think he stays at wr we need to put the ball in his hands, i repeat WE NEED to put the ball in his hands, the guy is a playmaker that simple. he can do it all

11) Greg Gilmore DT: Comes in at a huge position of need with a chance to contribute immediatley. Guys a player with a huge motor and great quickness. Could be a dorsey type as a penetrator who just reaks havic

12) Rickey Jefferson DB: Yes JJ's brother, but on the other side of the ball. Kid could be a potiential shutdown CB for us, and should make a nice tandem with White. This DB class is one to get really excited about

13) Tevin Lawson DT: a bit underrated, but this guy is another good one. I do think it'll take him a little time to develop though.

14) Quantavious Leslie WR: A true #1 WR with great size, hands and quickness. Mett NEEDS him. Will make mett's life easier. Can tower over DBs and make the spectacular catch on the deep ball. He's one who should take over next year and open up our offense.

15) Rashard Robinson DB: Can we strike gold twice from Ely high school? Sure seems that way. Super physical and has prototypical size. Will need a lil tim in the weight room, but I think he could potientially play safety for us.

16) Andy Dodd OG: underrated, and probably didn't jump up in the rankings because he decommited from Bama. Guy can really movie for a big man. Should excell on trap and pull plays, which will make hill a little more comfortable

17) Melvin Jones LB: Protypical MLB size. EXTREMELY underrated. The guy is a do everything workhorse. Could be a LB, or hell maybe even a FB if he want too. Hopefully sticks at MLB and takes the time to cut a little weight to work on pass coverage. I think he could really dominate by his JR year.

18) Christian Lacouture DE: Huge DE, but i dont know much about him. Faith in Chief though

19) KJ Malone C: Hopefully locks down the Center position after Porter/Austin. I don't personally think he'll be much, but with the right coaching he can become a decent center. Not excited about him.

20) Lewis Neal DE/OLB: Think he could be the hester/claiborne etc of this class. Underrated and looked over. He may be the best team player of the group. I look for him to overachieve

21) Michael Patterson DE: Don't know much about him, but again trust in chief

22) Logan Stokes TE: typical blocker 6th linemen type that should produce in goal line/ short yardage situation, which will only help.

Projected finish
Maquedius Bain DT
Artie Burns DB
Courtney Gardner WR (with grades)
Kendall Beckwith DE/OLB

Good write-up.

I guess you are treating Fanaika (OL) and Avery (WR) as part of last year's class.

I sure hope Cutrer is part of this class. With the talk of Reid likely declaring and Loston gone next year, we could use him.

I have not seen much discussion about KJ. I believe he plays 1A on both sides of the ball. According to Scout, Alabama offered him in addition to LSU. Rivals and 247 show him with an LSU offer only.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "NEVER" but he seems to be a good one. Several other good ones come to mind...David Lefleur for one.

Good stuff man. But what about Beckwith? Do you not see LSU getting him?

Thanks for the write-up. I do think you are being a bit pessimistic with Beckwith though.

Just one question. Is anyone else a potential grade casualty besides Cutrer? I believe Baker was as well, and that's one reason why he is no longer committed.

Robert Royal and Todd Kinchen were pretty good too. We've had plenty of good Tight Ends at LSU, including many that made it in the NFL, we just haven't had as much production from that position as I'd like to see recently. Partly because they haven't panned out as well as we'd hope, partly because the offense doesn't throw to TE's as much as they do in the NFL.

Thanks fellas. As for the TE's. We've had good Tes. No doubt. but I just think Smith could be the revolutionizing point. We have never had a TE like Eifert, Vernon Davis, etc. That mismatch nightmare that can change a game. Our QB's have had good ones, but I think Smith has the potiential to change the TE position at LSU. I'm talking 5-600 yards and 8 td's a year. This way, the te can become a vital part of our offense, instead of just WR's. now is that possible with our ground and pound offense? Who know's. But I think the TE position is becoming one of the most mportant positions in football.

Very well-thought-out and realistic approach to how we finish. I can honestly see your projection materializing, for the most part.

He's going to be a good one. He reminds me of Bennie Logan. I never thought he'd have the impact he's had because he was not recruited heavily.

Patterson is already ready size wise and just needs to develop technique. He is going to be a good one. I don't know if he's a star on this level, but he certainly is a future starter.

10) John Diarse WR: I think he stays at wr we need to put the ball in his hands, i repeat WE NEED to put the ball in his hands, the guy is a playmaker that simple. he can do it all

I think he's going to end up at safety. We need help there and his speed is a cause for concern.

OGs that aren't freak size won't ever be ranked that high

Kendall Beckwith DE/OLB

I think we get:
Bain DT - Miami site doesn't think he's part of their class, unless mom says no i think he'll be there.
Then one other - Not Artie Burns, either Priest Willis or Beckwith - I don't feel good about Beckwith

Wait what? Logan? I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but he is far from Logan...I would have said SonicSam before Logan.
