re: Running vs Cycling

I don't think anyone has every put down cycling. As a population, I think more people run. It's much cheaper.

But your rant is sort of comical. You compare a very slow, rookie runner to Lance Armstrong. Try running a 10K at a 5/6 min pace, and then come back.

running is high impact and bad for your knees.

cycling is lower impact and actually burns more calories than running, but you look like a tool if you do it right.

to each his own.

and you act as if elite runners do not actually compete during races?

amateur cyclists often come to the line in a mass sprint where its whoever has the most left in the tank wins.

does this happen in amateur foot races? seems like you're just trying to beat a clock..are you actually elbowing your opponents out of the way in a crazy sprint for the line?

Brah I don't know what kind of racing you do...but it's out of my league.

I'll stick to the MS150.

I'm not talking about crit races, you acted as if you're 75 mile, 4 hour races were some fast paced, adrenaline inducing, dangerous event.

i'm a lowly cat-4 bike racer and hitting 40mph as everyone crosses the line at the end isn't unusual. its a combination of drafting and adrenaline.

big difference. first show me a list of everyone who has run 75 miles.

second, if you knew anything about bike racing you'd know that you're near your lactic threshold for long stretches followed by several 3-5 minute efforts where you are at your MAX. because if you don't go with the group when they attack, you will fall off the back and your race is over.

i'm sorry but nothing close to that exists in running.

Why not just get a truck?

I can do 75 miles in less than a hour in mine

First problem with your post, nobody jobs at 4 MPH. That is walking.

Meanwhile cyclists connect themselves to a 12lb machine

Only poor people have bikes that heavy.

cream down switchbacks at close to 70mph (fastest speed i've hit personally was 68)

Nvm, you're trolling.
