I am looking into purchasing a lever action .22 rifle for my kid. I have shot the browning BLR and the Henry. Also, I have a marlin and winchester lever actions that chamber larger rounds. I know they all are good guns and well built for th most part. I think I will go with the browning, but would like to hear any thoughts that you may have or expirences. I would like this as a planking gun that will last a lifetime.

My personal favorite is the Winchester.

Any of those are good guns. I dont think you'd be disappointed either way. I own the Henry and it's been a great gun for the 11years that I've had it.

I have a Winchester and. Henry. I like the Winchester better. Better sights and action.

I have a Henry, only problem is then you'll want a .17 Henry with the octagon barrel.

If you can put your hands on an older Marlin 39A "Original Golden", that would be my choice over any of the rest. They are excellent shooting guns!

Without question the Winchester is the best of those mentioned. That doesn't mean that the others are not good but that Winchester is a very good little gun.
I'd rank them in this order:
Winchester
Browning (Probably a toss up between the Win and Browning)
Marlin
Henry

Thanks for all the info. I figured it would come down to personal prefernce. Interesting how many like the henry. I don't want to offend anyone and maybe it was just the model I shot, but it seemed to not be built as well as the others I looked at. (It was most likely their bottom line model). I felt as if the action/metal would scratch and some parts were not as strudy. Just my intial feeling. I will give them another look however.
Thanks

The low end Henry's are very nice for the price, but not on the same level as the golden boy, which is on par with the rest of what you listed.
I prefer the old marlin 39's. the safety on the new ones pisses me off.

The smoothest lever 22 out there...
Here's a very well respected guy from the online gun community. He likes the Henry a lot:

My FIL bought my little boy a golden boy. It's an extremely nice rifle but my brother's Winchester is better built.

Never tried a Henry, but I can't imagine it getting any better than my Winchester. That thing is so smooth its fluid.
