That's why they did an end-around with the ROTK appendices stuff in The Hobbit, which includes some Silmarillion info.

You think Sauron will be in the 3rd movie with the appendices?

Sauron will be in all 3 of these movies in some fashion.

He's the Necromancer from the book.

These movies will also be set against the backdrop of him coming to form and gaining strength again, and why Gandalf thought it was necessary to help a band of greedy dwarves regain their treasure/kingdom in the first place.

Let me know when you get the Silmarillion.

which third of the book does the White Council drive him out of Dol Guldur? early middle late? i'm wondering when we'll see this. the absence of specifics about this from the book is my biggest disappointment with the Hobbit

The only bad thing after watching the film we will all be dying to see the trailer from the next movie. It killed me to wait and see the Two Towers trailer the following year which was amazing

i remember being awed by the opening scene of TTT on opening night.

flying along the snowy mountain ridge hearing the roars from inside and then diving into one and seeing the Gandalf/Balrog battle sequence...

i could have done without the Ian MacGandalf nudie acid trip

Everyone's getting in on the The Hobbit buzz. Easily the most anticipated movie of the year. 4 covers for Entertainment Weekly out this week.

that smeagol cover does not promote the movie well. that's the stuff nightmares are made of. they could've done without that one

Damn!! Morgoth must be a badass

Dude, Morgoth had Balrogs for bodyguards!

The book also had some really badass elves. Some that make Legolas look like Peter Pan

Also got to keep in mind how much shite the movie is getting for killing all those animals during production. Most critics are liberal tree huggers and will write a bad review out of spite.

THIS

And the negatives from people who don't like the 48 FPS technology.

And, comparing it to the other films.

It was filmed at 48 FPS.

The thing is, only about 1,000 theaters have the technology to show it that way. So if yours does not, you shouldn't see any difference.

I think most reviews so far have been in tech-laden cinema venues, and there have been some complaints.

Never thought about that. Another reason liberals should leave america. What are the % of critics from California?
