What is the best way to find a job in Atlanta?

I will graduate in August with a masters degree in environmental science from LSU and will
most likely be looking to work in consulting unless I find something better. I will be moving to Atlanta for a few years after I graduate. So far I have been googling environmental firms and making a list, but have no clue which companies are better than others. Is there a better way?

Firms in Atlanta pay far less than firms in Louisiana.

Who the hell chooses to live in Atlanta? You spend more time in your car than at work.

There is a law firm in Atlanta that only exists to sue the federal government over timber issues. That is not their bread-n-butter, it is the only thing they have ever done. Call someone that works managing National Forest property and ask them. For example, if you cut a stump to 3" above the ground instead of 2.5" above the ground, they sue you. Yes they look at every single piece of land and every single stump that has been cut on that piece of property

Otherwise, I would try and find a job on the coast somewhere. There are plenty of marshes on the GA coast, and all over the Southeast for that matter which would be decent jobs.

You can also look into sewer design, waste disposal, air/water quality testing. Most of the aquatic jobs in Atlanta will be taken by engineers. Really no advice until you know what area of concentration you want to work in

Oh yeah, almost forgot the most important tip. Be black

I'm going to try and get as much experience as possible that will transfer into the oil and gas industry for when I move back to La.

So soil, air, and water testing and disposal?

I have no idea how big the O&G industry is over there, but were you wanting to work with them in the marsh or something?

ETA: Off of the top of my head, I think CH2M Hill is one of the bigger ones in LA. I applied for a job being an airboat driver, but they shot me down as soon as I told them I hadn't ever driven an airboat

I found a bunch of jobs listed on indeed.com. Just typ in "environmental oil" or something along those lines

Not many industrial clients in the Atlanta area to drive the cost of services up.

Most of it is commercial/light industrial.

I worked for an Engineering Firm based in Atlanta, and they are trying to follow that area's salary profile, which is 20%+ less on average, for their office here in Louisiana

Just look at air/soil/water quality testing and get on with a consulting firm that audits and provides solutions to their customers.

I have a buddy that just started doing this and he makes, I think, $50k a year with a work truck, office with a plasma and sofa, and regular benefits. He works from Bogalusa to Lafayette

I have never trusted indeed, is it a legit website? I feel like they just post second tier jobs. I will probably just try and find a recruiter.
