Is it possible that La Tech could lose money on a trip to the Independence Bowl?

No

to be fair, it's always POSSIBLE for them to lose money. Granted, someone would have to be really, really stupid in order for them to do so.

But we have no recent track record of stupidity from LA Tech officials...

RC, my thoughts exactly. I am a Tech fan, always will be but dang, it is hard sometimes. It is time to get rid of that clown..... especially if no one backs up this story. He gave those quotes on 2 radio shows this morning.

Yep.

Utah St lost to Wisonsin 16-14 on the road b/c they missed an easy FG at the end.

San Jose lost to Stanford by 2 points, I believe.

And Tech lost to those 2 teams and A&M by 2 pts.

So 9 points away from being undefeated and one phone call from being in a bowl.....

Let's see:

59-57 loss to A&M
48-41 loss to Utah St in OT
52-43 loss at San Jose St

14 points from the Orange Bowl.

his complaint that Ohio would have been there for the Indy is stupid.

No. It's accurate. Advocare(sponsor) wanted Ohio there.

We didn't play many mid-level teams. They either sucked or were Top 25.

You do realize that both of those teams beat Tech's arse and Tech beat no one with a winning record, right?

I'm giving him a pass. I think NIU getting the Orange Bowl at 3:00 on the day of selections screwed everything up. If he would have had the information yesterday that he has today, we would be in the Independence Bowl.
