I think we should wait to see who ends up with the first overall draft pick and trade Mark Ingram for all their picks this year.

And we should do it this week. Seriously, what's Goddell gonna do?

Draft picks and a worse RB.

MI will proceed to go off when he's playing for a team that utilizes him right.

I don't know why Alabama fans continue to use this line.

Man, you'd think this guy was the coach of LSU the way we complain about him.

In the last 4 weeks, his yards per rush attempt is greater than Ray Rice and Arian Foster.

There's no reason to hate a Saint this much for no reason.
I swear, some of you believe he put a gun to Loomis' head and told him to use up 2 1st round picks to draft him.
You guys love Loomis and the front office (the ones who drafted Ingram), but hate Ingram (who got drafted).
How does that make sense?
Oh, he supports his alma mater.
Crucify him.

Right now, he's being paid more than Ivory, but less than Thomas and Sproles.
"Oh no, such a cap hit!"

I mean, hell, if we can get something good for him next year, sure.
But do we need thread after thread after thread complaining about him and asking what he could be traded for?

Your beef is with the coaching staff who plays him over Ivory and Thomas.

I don't mind him. He's improved this year but he hasn't been spectacular and I don't buy the "saints don't use him right" excuse.

I wasn't responding to you in particular, in case you were wondering.

I like to look to the future. Brees isn't going to be able to carry this team forever. At some point he will have to take that John Elway role where he will need a running back to carry the load. PT will be past his prime by then.

At that point I would hope that Ingram has an Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson type career. Slow start then hits his stride as a workhorse. He's a similar type back as those guys so I hope we see the same type of career progression.

Again, this is what I hope...

If you included a dollar with Ingram, you could get a cup of coffee at McDonalds.

That's actually a great comparison for Ingram. I live near the Chicago area and have seen those two play quite a bit. Neither of those two backs could break tackles much but could get what the offensive line opened for them decent enough. Sadly, that's pretty much the realistic ceiling I see for Ingram at this point.

That trade to draft is probably the worst move Peyton has made as a Saint. The only, repeat, only reason to make a trade is if it improves the team. Does anyone seriously believe that Ingram has improved the team?

How soon people forget. PT was coming off an injury and people thought he would no longer be a Saint. We had been through about 5 running backs that year and I think our leading rusher was Julius Jones who wasn't coming back. (Didn't we also have Mike Bell and Brad Muster and Antoine Smith that year?) Bush had been injured most of the year and his contract was coming up. Ingram was graded as the best RB on the board and fell far on the board and we got a back who we thought could be a workhorse to carry the ball 12-15 times a game.

As I said earlier, if in 4 years he can carry the ball 20 times a game and let Brees not have to win every game, it will be a brilliant move. I'll trust Payton on these things.
