Since today is a race day on the O-T, I figured now would be a good time to ask my question.
I have often pondered this, but never had anyone to bounce it off of, so here is my question (I apologize if I do not word it the best).
If a person has a black parent they are considered black, if a person has a Hispanic parent, they are considered Hispanic. My question is why? Do you have to be "100" Caucasian/European, to be considered "white"
I think the Zimmerman/Martin case really brought this to light for me.
All of the O-T defined him as Hispanic, while other races defined him as White. Who is right here and who determines the answer?

Well my grandfather had a nice white sheet and hood in his closet. I'm thinking this makes me close enough.

I mean, kinda hard to explain. You can't look at someone and see that they are white? If they don't have any black, Hispanic, Asian, etc in them, then I guess they are considered 100% white( Well, as close as you can get to 100%). IMO Hispanics aren't white. Hispanics are people of Spanish ancestry. Maybe a long time ago they were considered white, but I would say Hispanics are their own race.

to that point, wouldn't Spanish people be considered European, and aren't Europeans considered Anglo-saxen white?

Sadly, the answer is simple.
There are no goodies to be had for being white like there is for being other races, so there is no "incentive" for claiming even the tiniest bit of white if its in your DNA.
Quite the opposite of colonial times when a man would claim even the tiniest bit of white and say he was white because well it benefited him to do so.
