I care WAY more about matchups than about which bowl game we are in. As long as it is a good game against a quality opponent and it is on TV, I could care less what bowl game it is.
Truth.
Unless were talking about BCS bowls who cares?
Outback, Cap 1, Chik-Fil-A, Cotton? What's the difference?
To me, the opponent matters much more than the name of the bowl. If #5 were to play #8 in the Independence Bowl, would you really care that its the Independence Bowl?

You forgot the part in your story where we roll into Tuscaloosa next season exhausted while Bama 1st stringers have been sitting on the bench for a month and we get manhandled.

It's all fan bases. People just like to complain.
It's sad that two loud mouth extreme fringes take over each fanbases.
One are the chronic complainers, you're team can be going undefeated and winning every game 63-0 and they'd still say everything sucks and everyone should be fired.
The other are the sunshine pumpers, the simpletons who think saying anything negative ever, no matter how constructive the criticism, is being disloyal or not being a good fans. You have 9 losing seasons in a row getting blown out every game and they still support the coach and the system, etc.
The vast majority of fans are sane, but the people you notice are the loud mouths and they tend to be the most idiotic.

Whenever LSU is in a "tie", we routinely get sent to the worst bowl possible.
The 1989 Sugar Bowl agrees with you. We beat Auburn head-to-head, but the end up in the SB to represent as SEC Champs while LSU gets sent to the HOF Bowl and lays an egg against Syracuse.

To me, the best non-BCS bowls for LSU (as a fan) are Cotton (now that they have Jerry World and it isn't at 10am) and CFA.
Agree. Hope the weather is cold here in LA because I will be at our camp watching this game with, hopefully, a got cauldron of duck and sausage gumbo on the stove and a big fire in the fireplace.

Tired of smiling and saying "wait until next year"
We said a lot of this from '89 to '94, except back then there were very less smiles.
I'd rather play Clemson in the Chicken Bowl than play Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl. That latter is a lose-lose situation, but win the former and you finish in the Top Five.

What coach has had a losing season and still be supported? Miles is the longest tenured coach since cholly. Coaches dont stay at LSU for very long. Sunshine pumpers just take offense to people bashing the players and coaches that do a hell of a whole lot for the uni and the community.
Saying so and so sucks or so and so is an idiot is not constructive criticism. Making fun of the way someone talks is not constructive criticism.

LSU Coaches over the past 50 years:
Dietzel - left LSU to go to Army
Mac - successful alternating with mediocre - got run out
Stovall - fired
Arnsparger - left to go to Florida
Archer - fired
Hallman - fired
Dinardo - fired
Saban - left to go to NFL
Miles - won 83% of games over 8 years.
Our string of coaches over the past half century have either been fired, were mediocre, or left us for greener pastures.
Miles has won championships, over 80% of his games, and has stayed, even turning down his alma mater. Still, we whine and complain.
If I was not an LSU fan, I would not be an LSU fan. Think about it.

I will continue to "whine and gripe" about the purposeful manipulation of the schedules by the SEC to benefit a certain "brand name team".
