Thats crazy. Dude I work with had something like that happen to he and his dad. Said his dad shot a deer. He tagged it, drug it to the food plot then went to get the golf cart. When he got back to where he drug the deer 5 minutes later it was gone.

I've poked a deer one time in my life. As I was walking up to him something told me to poke him so I did and he flopped and it just about scared the shite out of me.

At least you didn't unload on him at that point. I've heard of that happening.

I always walk up ready to shoot and then give them a poke in the eye to make sure.

I still think if someone sold a bayonet for this purpose it would sell.

No, that's my grandpa's hand. That was from his crossbow accident. It was pretty bad.

My dad shot a doe one time and he just left her there and came to get me so I could help him get her out of the woods and when we returned she was laying there like a cow looking around. Well I shot her in the neck and I grabbed her legs to start dragging and she started kicking. Well I stabbed her all in the chest and throat well she quit moving so I grabbed her legs again and this time she kicked me in the shin my dad said it sounded like a shotgun being shot. I cut her throat from her chest to her head. Well after doing this she quit kicking again so I proceeded to grab her legs and the bitch kept kicking. Somewhere between us finally wrestling her to the truck and our house she expired. It was definitely a night to remember.

Shot a doe a little too far back one time. Caught some lung but the angle she was on I got a lot of guts too. Tracked her in a circle for about an hour. Once I found her she was laying there breathing but too weak to do anything else. Being the experienced 14 year old I was I put that .270 to her ear and pulled the trigger. Brains went everywhere. I've got a pic of the carnage at the house. I'll have to get it and post it later.

I did similar one time. First deer I killed, about the same age. Shot her low in the front shoulder and took both front shoulders out. She hopped around for an hour like a kangaroo. I got down and went to her and she wouldnt stop so I shot her through the neck. She kept trying so then I put one between her eyes and too off the top of her head. My uncle made me put a bag over its head so his daughter wouldnt see it at the camp

I've done this before too. The percussion of the shot at close range like that almost knocked my hat off. Stupid stupid idea on my part.

A couple of friends and I were at a gas station in Hogansville, GA several years ago during deer season. An old panel van pulled into the parking lot and skidded to a stop. The driver jumped out of the drivers seat and started screaming for help. So we walk over to the van which is rocking a bit and there is noise coming from the back. Ol' boy had shot a buck and loaded it in the back and says that while driving he looks in the rear view mirror and the buck in on its feet and raising hell. We told him to open the rear door and let the deer out. He said he didnt want the deer to get away so I went back to my truck and grabbed a Glock 10mm from the console. He fired 6 shots into the van from the passenger side window and ultimately killed the deer plus blew a few holes in the sides of the van. The interior was shredded and blood was all over the place.

The scene was nuts, some cops showed up due to discharging a firearm in a public place. One of the most memorable days of my life. I've got pics and a newspaper clipping about it buried at home I'll have to dig them up.
