Here's his resume as the Lions HC:
quote:

2009 2-14
2010 6-10
2011 10-6
2012 4-8
Overall 22-38 (.367)

How long does he last? I'm thinking at most, one more year. They have way too much talent to have this bad of a record. They are undisciplined to the extreme, and he has made several coaching decisions that have cost them games.

They've lost 4 in a row and finish the year @ Green Bay, @ Arizona, Atlanta, Chicago. They could finish the year 4-11. That would be 8 straight losses, 22-40 overall record, and 34% winning record.

Does he get one more year, or does he get fired this year?

He gets another year. He took them to the playoffs last year.Prior to last year, the Lions hadn't been to the playoffs since Moses parted the Red Sea.

i didn't realize this was possible

If they end the year on an 8 game skid, he gone

Take a look at their impressive wins

5-6-1 Rams
3-9 Eagles
7-5 Seahawks
2-10 Jaguars

I think the complete lack of discipline for Suh, Schwartz's douche running after coaches and trying to fight them, and his poor game management might get him fired this year. He's a pretty terrible coach. It'd be scary to see what someone like Chip Kelly could do with the offensive talent they have. Then, bring in a guy like Steve Spagnuolo who has a history of making defensive linemen look like gods, and they could be very good, quick.

I dont understand how Detroit can have Barry Sanders and Calvin "Megatron" Johnson and still be a below average franchise. I don't think the coach is the issue

He should probably get one more year, but he is on the definition of the hot seat. The Lions really took a major step back this year.

Stop assuming a coach can just make the transition from College to the Pro's. More times than not it doesn't turn out so well.

You guys must not look past the surface. Just check the list of injuries and the scores of their losses. He isn't the best coach in the world, but they have come a LONG way in the last three years. They were the worst team in football in ages four years ago.

Bear in mind that the Lions are down at least one RB, who may never play football again, and down pretty much their entire secondary. They were hiring guys off the waiver wire and putting them right on the field they were so depleted at one point this season. All that said, Schwartz gets one more year, based on the Lions resurrection from the dead. He has to fix the D, and the excuses won't work 2 years in a row.

With some good offseason moves (which the Lions have actually handled better the last two years), they could fix the issues on D and in the run game. Just look at the last minute losses to quality teams. At least three this season. They just need those two areas addressed, and they can become a legit contender.

6 straight losses, sitting at 4-10 this year. Falcons and the Bears to finish the season. 4-12 season looks extremely likely. at best 5-11 losing 7 of 8 games. I know they just gave Schwartz an extension in June, but his job can't be safe, right?

The way they have limped to the finish i think it just would depend on management's view of the team. If management thinks them team quit on the season then they will have to make a change.

One more year. They had some close games at the beginning of the season that went the other way and a ton of injuries. The most concerning thing with his teams have been the lack of discipline. They let the Cardinals with no QB beat them. Maybe Schwartz should give Wayne Fontes a call for some tips to finish strong.
