If ya can't beat em, join em. We really do need a solid WR coach....don't think we could do any better than him

If there is one area that Joker excels (and it may only be one area), its coaching wide receivers. Stevie Johnson (now with the Bills), Jacob Tamme (Broncos), Dicky Lyons and Keenan Burton were a few on his resume. Technically, he could take responsibility for Randall Cobb (Packers). Chris Matthews and LaRod King were decent. When his responsibilities spread to other areas, he was god awful. And his reputation as a recruiter is not nearly as good as some give him credit for. Of course, at UF, all you have to do is put two sentences together and you can get a recruit, so doubt he will have any trouble doing that.

At Auburn you have to commit multiple secondary violations

It would be a good hire. I would be surprised he would take something other than an OC initially, but maybe. He was just over his head as a HC, but would be fine as a position/OC.

is this a rumor or is there some real talk? I like the idea a whole lot

He has a decent sized buyout, wouldn't getting another job right away affect that?

A position coach, even at UF wouldn't make that much money.

We stuck the CIW tag on him when he was the OC/RC and we had one of the top offenses in the nation a few years in a row and he was supposedly getting interest from some big time programs for the OC job.

I think it would be great hire for UF, but I don't think he would do it unless he had another title to go along with it, like Co-OC or something like that.

Actually, on one of the UK Premium Sites. Says it's already a done deal, and Joker will be hired at Florida by the end of this week.

The report says WR coach, with additional roles. Didn't say what these other duties might be.

Yeah I caught wind of it a few days ago. A mod at our 247 site had mentioned he was on campus, and that is our only opening, as of now. Probably WR coach/recruiting coordinator (which means nothing on UF's staff).

He should have never been a head coach in the first place. Period.

Possibly. I cannot see us giving him that tag publicly though. Champ hires some great assistants. Appears to know what he is doing. We are lucky.

Muschamp would do well not to name him HCIW anytime soon.

Actually as a position coach/OC, Joker was fine, he just wasn't ready for a HC job.

I'm glad for Joker. Good guy. He will be a good addition to an already good staff.

I agree with you here, the guy was a great position coach and a great OC.

But I think the HC job was a little to much for him to handle. I think with more experience he could do it.

How good of an eye for talent did he have as an OC/position coach? I know UK did not get a ton of high rated kids, but they always seemed to have some talent at WR.

Lyons Jr also played for the Broncos, and Burton with the Rams, IIRC...

He's a great WR coach (what he's been for majority of his career at not just Kentucky but Notre Dame and South Carolina too) so you're definitely getting a steal there. I'm glad he was able to get something so soon. I hope he can find some happiness in Gainesville.
