I'm over having a sore arse...lets get this trip planned. What is there to do in Atlanta? I've only been for the LSU-UNC game and we went and came straight back. Looking to make a trip out of it.

Within walking distance from the Georgia Dome is Centennial Olympic Park, CNN Center (you can take a tour), World of Coke and Georgia Aquarium.

There's Buckhead area for shopping and restaurants. Also, Stone Mountain just to the east of the city has its winter/holiday stuff going on, I think.

That for starters.

How is the snow in Gatlinburg during that time of the year? We may head North to do a little snowboarding if the conditions are right.

If you have kids or are a kid at heart, Stone Mountain is a beautiful park and they have what is called "Snow Mountain". There is a large parade ground area in the shadow of the mountain that is covered in man made snow, very deep. For a price per person you can play in the snow, snow tube down a hill etc. It is not cheap, but it keeps it from getting too crowded and keeps the riff raff away if you know what I mean. It is worth it from what I understand, prices on their website.
Buckhead sucks, a few good eats, the best two steak places are Bones and Chops. Most of the bars in Buckhead are no more to make room for high end condos and shopping. Bones is consistently rated one of the top 3 steakhouses in the US. It is the best service I have ever received, wife and I usually go once or twice a year.
The Aquarium is amazing, visit it. World of Coke is ok, you can buy a two for 1 package with the aquarium and world of coke, they are next door to each other.
CNN tour sucks arse. Boring.
Take a ride about 1.5 hours North of Atlanta up Highway 400 to Dahlonegha, GA. It's an old gold town and is surrounded by Georgia Wineries, it's a great way to spend a 1/2 day.
I live 15 from downtown, will be looking for a ticket or two in the lower bowl

Great place to go if the weather is good. You can hike to the top (or ride the tram) and the view is great. Lots of family stuff there too.

Every time I see this question asked, these places get mentioned. Is there really nothing better to do in Atlanta than watch people report news, see cola canned, and watch fish swim? It's amazing a city the size of Atlanta can have so little to do.

Should we pick Stone Mountian over six flags for kids 11 and 13? We've been to other amusement parks so I'm thinking Stone Mountian may be somthing different.

Will go to the aquarium as well.
Any other ideas?
