over what happened. At least Les learned from his clock management mistakes. Richt clearly never learned since that game in Athens way back when....I think against Auburn? unbelievable how stupid a coach can be in crunch time there. Murray should have clocked it on his own.Two set plays versus a desperation hurry up play. He is leaving anyway. he shoulda clocked it and looked out for the best interests of the team. Richt shite the bed big time.

Would have to agree. We couldn't believe it. Such a key moment in a huge game. Wow, Georgia had their chance.

Georgia's wasn't that big of a mistake, if at all. I can see the rationale for pressing the issue with the play you want to run without allowing Alabama to talk it over on defense.

Les has had some whoppers by comparison.

Saban's was far worse than Richt's.

It wasn't that crazy to not allow the bama defense to set up. They had no time to adjust from a prevent. If anything it was the dumbass who caught the ball and fell with no timeouts who should take the blame for the mental meltdown. However, most coaches would clock it and prepare 2 plays. Even still, the same thing could have happened. Ball tipped. Idiot not in endzone falling down catches batted pass causing loss.

Just goes to show you, you gotta be thinking 2-3-4 plays ahead at all times.
Espec during crunch time.

Or at leastvhave someone real close to you on sideline thinking it.

I think Georgia still could have gotten those two plays even without spiking it.

It wasn't a clock management issue more than it was the receiver catching the ball when he should have knock it down. Would have still had one more play then. the pass may have been completed if it were not tipped.

Miles has no reason to laugh at anyone else. He the master of blunders.

UGA recollecting themselves for a shot at two or maybe 3 plays is better than putting all their eggs in one basket for one last hurry up unorganized play.

I missed that one.

Prior to that, Murray let 10 seconds run off, from 30 down to 20, after they made that long throw and got the first down clock stop.

So, they actually blew it twice.

You're pretty hard on the WR for doing what comes naturally and catch the ball that falls into his arms. It was a bad decision but I bet 90% of players do the same thing.

Kid that caught the ball did make a huge mistake, but don't think Richt should have put his players in that position to begin with. Guy that caught the ball needs to be aware of whats going on, but he is in the moment and playing off his natural instincts(you see the ball catch it). You clock the ball, make sure that the team is on the same page, and live with the opportunity to win off of two plays.

As bad as Miles clock management has been at times, I guess not to many people can say it's just him now. Once in a while it can happen to anyone. This past week it's been Drew Brees(Saints), Nick Saban, and Mark Richt.

It wouldn't have been the last play if the receiver had not caught it.

All in all, yes, I and most people would have clocked the ball, but there's a big argument to be made for doing what they did. Not much of a blunder, if at all.

While I agree he should have "clocked" it, the ball getting tipped (good defense) and the WR catching the ball (bad decision) is what made it a bad decision.

If the ball was just batted down or incomplete, there is still another play.

Bad decision? Yep. Something Miles can laugh at? Nope. Miles has done far worse more times so quit trying to make excuses for the dumbass that is Miles.

B.S. That was a HUGE mistake! It costs Ga. a chance at a BCS title! WTF? Murray should have spiked the ball #1. However, since he didn't the receiver should have not even tried to catch the ball #2. It was a common display of not being aware of the situation. It also reaffirms my belief that football players are not the sharpest people in society. 'Bama escapes yet again. That was painful to witness.
