Noticed quite a few overthrown receivers on deep balls.

How much is on the QB and how much is on the WR?

Is it Mett simply throwing to spots on the field and the WR isn't there or are they just badly thrown balls?

I think thr majority of the blame should be on the receivers but Mett should have adjusted by now but he is wary to throw a pick

I think it's been a mixture of both. Probably a little more blame on Mett but his receivers didn't start making plays for him until damn near the Bama game.

ETA: it's such a shame that Randle left early. He would have absolutely shined this year especially on those deep balls.

I always wonder if some of those incomplete passes are poorly run timing routes instead of simply bad throws

one thing about Mett's deep throws he's almost dead on with the 5 yd. overthrow. Just about by that much every time.

Biggest problem for Mett is not overthrows but ball placement. He routinely fails to throw the ball properly on deep routes. He leads the receiver and the ball back to the defender routinely.

He's prevented long TD's with poor ball placement on almost half a dozen locations.

Would Randle been able to run down some of those throws if he stayed this year? I mean, is he faster than Landry, Wright, OBJ?

He's faster but wouldn't get to the overthrows that we are talking about......

A few? Every pass over 25 yds and he was overthrowing them this season. Needs to learn how to put some air under it this offseason and at least give his receivers an opportunity to make a play on it.

I think some of this is due to the thinking that an overthrown incompletion is much better than an underthrown interception. I would bet this was stressed to Mett by the coaches. The only problem I have with this is when it deals with wide open receivers. If the receiver is covered, I agree. However, some of these overthrows were to open receivers. In those cases, an underthrow may have amounted to a long gain but the receiver being tackled whereas a perfect throw leading to a TD. In this case a sure catch is better than the possible TD or incompletion.
