look man, he's a friggin' genius no matter how many games he loses. it is also difficult to imagine people that still continue to use that antiquated stat (wins) to measure a coaches value. patterson and the west virginia coaches are the best coaches in college football. just look at their offense man.

No one is saying wins and losses are not valuable ways to judge coaches. A single season viewed only as a ratio of W/L falls short of telling the story of that season. It doesn't even come close to telling the story of a coach.

But keep on picking and grinning and watch TCU climb to the top of the big 12 and play for more BCS games.

He's dumb and insecure to stay at TCU with as many jobs as he has supposedly been offered.

He will do no better than the Cotton Bowl w/ TCU in Big 12.

Wow ...Gary has really shown the Big12 who the man is. He is , by far, the best 5 loss coach in the country.

They have the 17th ranked defense in the nation. With 3 freshman and 4 sophomores. That's impressive.

Yet gave up over 30 pts in all their losses. Great defense.

Big12
2012 7-5

5 losses in 1 year

Simply "Bad luck"?

Losing your QB when you already at a talent disadvantage didn't help. It isn't like TCU is stacked with talent like OU and UT. He does a good job developing 3 star guys into NFL players.

Losing to OU and K State is no big deal. Oklahoma State isn't really a big deal either as they have more talent on the roster. The OSU game is kinda bad because they got blown out and OSU was mediocre this year.

Losing to Iowa State by 14 and giving up 56 to TTU is bad though. They have the talent to beat teams like that and losing by double digits or giving up over 50 is bad. That being said, there are probably quite a few teams out there that would start dropping games when their QB has to be booted from the team.

I do think if you gave Patterson talent like UT or OU, then he'd dominate the Big 12. In the MWC he was used to playing with equal or more talent. It is hard when the other team has more talent many games.

TCU had 5 losses with opponents scoring ISU 37, TTU 56, OKST 36, KState 23, and OK 24 respectfully. So you are clearly wrong.

The point margin for those 5 games was ISU 14, TTU 3, OKST 22, KState 13, and OK 7.

No team held Kstate and the Heisman candidate to less points
OK was only held to less points in one game against the #1 team in the country ND.
