Not even close.
Not the best in the SEC.
Probably not even the best in Louisiana.

these two statements dont go together. you have to be like one of the best 30 teams in the country to make the tourney. not best 68.

Ricky Tarrant
May or may not have better numbers at this point, I havent looked, but last year he was really good.

Mobley was fantastic in the first half but disappeared in the second half. Probably tired from recent inactivity??

Some gems on the Seton Hall board. Guess it had nothing to do with the fact that they were chasing our small lineup the entire game.

Plays for Tulane put up 15 ppg as a Freshman last year. He's putting up 15 this year so far too, but he hasnt been as efficient.
FWIW, prior to the season Dan Wolken said he'd be the 2nd best PG in the SEC.

i just looked his stats up. Hickey's are better. Nothing says solid point guard play like a 1.2 assist to turnover ratio.

Hickey has more assists and steals by far in 2 less games played. Hickey slightly better 3 point shooter, slightly worse field goal % shooter.

Yeah I'm not buying it. Tarrant has 18 assists and 14 turnovers, thats very mediocre. Not buying it at all.

Through 6 and 7 games? He might be better thus far, but I'd take Ricky over the course of the season.

It's hard to combat someone being "over-the-top excited" with a post that is the exact same way but for another player. Sorry sir.

My post was over the top for Ricky Tarrant? I'd say I was over the top in expressing that Hickey is far from the best PG in the country. I just threw in that Tarrant is a better player.
His assist to TO ratio may be bad this year and wasnt as good as Hickey last year, but that's only one stat.

only the most important stat for a point guard but yes only one stat. But it isnt even close. 2.6 to 1.2. More than double.

of course it isnt the only stat he wins in but we can ignore that for now.

Hickey does a ton more for this team than A/TO. He leads the SEC in steals. Plays tough defense. Hits free throws.

Yes saying that Hickey wasn't the best PG in Louisiana was over the top. Sorry.

I'm not ignoring it. We're looking at 5 games for Hickey and 7 for Tarrant. That's a small sample size and yes Hickey was better in that category last year as well. Tarrant put up way more points and was much better shooting from the field, from 3pt and the FT line.

So is Hickey the best PG in the SEC?
If not was Dan Wolken over the top saying Tarrant would be #2 in the SEC?

He has like 9 more steals than the Tulane guard in 2 less games. Every stat that counts for a PG hickey wins in. He does score less, but he shoots less as well. Like i said their percentages are almost identical with Hickey being slightly higher from 3 and Tarrant slightly higher total fg %.

Points, FG% 3pt% and FT% dont count for PGs now? Hickey may be a better pure pg, but Tarrant is better. Again I said his stats were down so far this year, take into account the 30 games these two played last season and Tarrant is definitely better.
