And you're either too fricking stupid or too ignorant to realize that every single "restructuring" that you're talking about is simply converting base salary into a signing bonus. There is absolutely no sacrifice involved. There is no "helping" involved. All that is happening is the player is telling the team "Yeah, you can take the $2m you owed me this year and convert it into a $500k payment in each of the next four years." Except not even that generous, since that's only how the cap sees it. In reality, whenever a player makes that "sacrifice", they get paid that money up front regardless. In fact, when they make that conversion from base salary to signing bonus in order to "help" the team, they protect themselves from losing money in a suspension. Guaranteed money (signing bonus) is tough to confiscate.

And I'll make a deal with you right now. If you can find an instance of an elite QB restructuring their contract so that they make less money than they were making (and I mean elite, not someone like a 36 year old Kurt Warner on the downside of his career), I'll never post on this forum again. If you CAN'T find it that happening, then you never post on Saints Talk ever again.

Translation: I can't win this wager, so I'll just hardcore my way out. It's not my fault that you thought that Big Ben converting a $5m of his base salary into a signing bonus didn't mean he actually gave up money.

"restructuring" is a benefit for both player and team, while skirting the rules of the league.

You chose Ben, I found Palmer. One a MWC college player, the other a Heisman winner. Each of similar age. 32 years old, not 36. I anticipate more squivelling......

Yo fricktard. Why are you bringing up BigBen's contract? I've never mentioned his contract at all; never made any comment on it at all. Have never given any thought to it at all.

Once again you're just pulling shite out of thin air and attributing it to me.

Are you gay for me? I don't roll that way if you are.

He deserves every penny. This team is worthless without him. It is painfully evident. If he was here right now, combined with the D improving like it is, we would be in the playoffs.

And Coach salary doesnt effect cap room, so any fan of our team who doesnt want him paid a dollar more than anyone else will offer him is a stupid mother fricker. Benson will pay that man a truck load of cash because:
1. We need him
2. Benson is rich as frick
3. It doesnt effect cap room
4. We dont win games without him
5. We cant play clutch without him
6. Drew cant focus after a mistake without him
7. Play calling is disgusting without him
8. Pierre Thomas is inexplicably on the sidelines without him.
9. Benson is rich as frick and coach salaries in no way at all affect cap room or player salaries, so who gives a shite what a fat rich old man decides to pay our superbowl winning, only reason we are a contender, coach.
10. Without him this team is a formula one racecar without a driver.

Colts seem to be doing fine without their head coach, and a rookie QB. So what's the problem?

They could pay him 20MIL a year, at least it wont hurt the CAP, more worried about what the players make

So you are saying let Payton go and fire Drew Brees and pick up a new QB? That sounds like an intelligent statement to you?

Sean Payton + Drew Brees + Spagnolo = another ring

Sean Payton + Benson's money = no effect on the team, player salaries, fans money, teams money, etc..

Give me one reason why i wouldnt want Benson's fat rich arse to pay our Superbowl winning, one of the greatest offensive minds in the NFL having, talent scouting, player developing Coach. One legitimate reason for Benson not to spend his money. I'll wait.

I never said fire anyone. I'm just saying that it's more than the lack of SP

What is?

It is entirely a lack of SP. Both this game and the last where more than winnable. Drew threw 4 ints and the game was still in reach before he threw the 5th or 6 one(offsides called back). If we had any sense of in game adjustments on offense and clutch play calling we win these last two games. Sean Payton is not here and every single player and fan should be able to tell how huge of a problem that is. If Benson has to give Sean Payton the Horents to keep him here, great, do it.

Payton either gets paid or he walks to Dallas. He may head to the Cowboys no matter what Benson offers.

Sean Payton is not going to leave money on the table when it comes to negotiating the most lucrative contract possible. Anybody who believes that he would leave money on the table is terribly naive.

If Jerry Jones offers more than Benson, Sean Payton is coaching the Dallas Cowboys. Period.
