That's not the point. The point is that she made it known what she was going to do. It wasn't spur of the moment or reacting to it. It was something that was well enough known that students were actually celebrating it.

Have you ever heard of students bringing handcuffs to a high school football game? They knew something was going to happen.

i think the penalties are too harsh for parkway... kids and coaches next year will get cheated out of home playoff games they earned for something that involved no students

the principal was gonna get hers in a lawsuit anyway

If that's the case, then Parkway shouldn't just have to give up hosting home playoff games, they should be banned from the playoffs next year.

I also don't understand why the LHSAA penalties should be lessened because someone filed suit against the principal in court. Two separate entities. LHSAA needs to punish them to the full extent that they can. What they did was complete horseshite.

Parkway disciplined for Musemeche incident

quote:

McRae’s statements also included social media items allegedly published by Parkway students indicated that they knew the schools had disagreed on terms for the bands to play and also that some knew the Live Oak coach would be arrested. One photo entered into evidence showed two Parkway students holding a set of handcuffs. Bourgeois told the committee she is not active on social media and was unaware of any posts.

Agree. Punishing the kids over the actions of the principal is not OK in my book.

This thing got out of hand and she way over reacted to the coach questioning her precious schedule. When the Parkway coach OK'd the LO football team using the LO band time that should have been the end of the issue. She chose to escalate the situation and talked a deputy (who evidently can't think for himself) into cuffing the coach.

I personally think this was also a slap at Parkway's football coach for OKing the LO team using LO band time.

During the hearing? Wow.

From people I know here in Bossier she does that quite often. She seems just a little to impressed with herself and it bit her in the a** in this case. I understand she one day wanted to be superintendent. I think this episode ruins any chance of that ever happening.

I don't like the punishment because say that they are like an 8 seed again next year. That means that the team lucky enough to draw a 25 gets a cheap home game they didn't earn, but the 17 seed doesn't.

You wanna punish Parkway next year? Make them the 32 seed automatically next year if they qualify. Or make them play West Monroe in the first round.

that 25 seed will get to host a game, and should they win, it will be counted as a road game for them, and give them a better shot to host rounds 2 and 3

Excellent point. This could cause some havoc and huge advantages/disadvantages for other teams in the bracket. The playoff penalty needs to be rethought.

I agree. Based on it being a premeditated action, they should be banned from the playoffs altogether.

As I said in an earlier post, punishing the kids for the actions of the principal is not OK.

Even without the playoff penalty, Parkway is still being hit pretty hard. I'd let them have home games, but ban Mrs. Bougeois from being present. Her being on campus would result in a Parkway forfeit. Also, Parkway's game schedules should have to be approved by the LHSAA.

So West Monroe gets punished by playing a (#8 for example) seed in the first round???

I think if Parkway fires the principal they could appeal to the LHSAA to drop the sanctions. Seems like one person spearheaded all of the tomfoolery.

perhaps the school system and parkway but when he was asked to leave the field and resisted then thats when the police lead him off. They were doing their jobs, but the parkway principle looked smug on tv that night when she was explaining what happened to fletcher.

Not sure if serious.

The list of penalties is-

-No home playoff games in 2013
-Must pay for all costs of the hearing
-Probation for the school and principal, the latter of the two is "officially reprimanded"
-Parkway must "revise its pregame band routine"
-Principal must attend next LHSAA handbook certification

Outside of the playoff game rule, all the other penalties are warranted given the situation.

This is a case of the LHSAA getting something right for once, as opposed to the clusterfrick from last year where they fricked up the playoff seeding and tried to blackmail the wrongly-excluded school into dropping its complaint.
