I really don't understand why it's so hard to find a guy that would coach there, outside of the fact that they think they need a "big name".

They need to find a up n comer and go with it.

Gruden
Patterson
Peterson

Those guys are not happening..

Just have to Show Cause...

...which will be next to impossible, because there are decent mid-major coaches out there who would take the job. Tennessee would have to demonstrate to the NCAA why they had to hire Tressel...hence the term, "show cause".

and any school that hires a coach with a show-cause order in effect can be penalized merely for doing so.

Yeah, but Tennessee has nothing to worry about because they have been so clean in regards to NCAA violations here recently.

In addition, the coach can't coach in a certain number of games nor in any bowl game the first season.

There is virtually no chance that Tressel gets hired by a major program during the term of the show-cause.

Also I hate those damn odds, can they not just use percentages or something

gee man; never shoot craps. i already assume you aren't good in math or statistics (not that there is anything wrong with that). also, you might want to limit your para mutual betting to $2 a shot. just sayin'.

it shouldn't be. kiffin was a dumb frick hire by a dumb frick. when he stabbed ut in the back they moved fast because they had to. you have to admit, dooley resume' was terrific. ut will be fine if they have a sharp guy searching. hell, the gruden rumors are ludicrous. i think that would be a terrible hire.

Engineering thanks, it's just an obnoxious system that there is zero reason to use

I don't want Butch Davis. If we take a coach who has recently had his previous program investigated and got fired as a result of the investigation. I would rather have Tressel then Davis.

I'm ok with this

Really? Butch Davis? Why not just go with Larry Coker.

So you would rather have a guy with a show cause attached to his name as opposed to a guy who was cleared by the NCAA for any wrongdoing? Makes sense.

Butch Davis set the table for Larry Coker at Miami..He's was winning at UNC..He's been cleared of any wrong doing by the NCAA...He's got a Super Bowl ring with his days with Jimmy Johnson and I believe a National Championship ring or two..He's cheap right now, he will probably keep Graham and Pittman on the staff and bring in his defensive staff...I would have NO PROBLEM with Butch Davis at UT...

Kiffin was only a bad hire in hindsight. I believe he would have done quite well had Pete Carroll not bolted for the Seahawks.

LSU GrandDad is either the dumbest mother fricker on this site or a terrible troll. Either way, no need to pay attention to anything he says.

If we land Gruden, everyone who bet loses. Not a bad play for the books.
