With all this talk about Miles and Saban, I thought I'd share my insight. Heck, the Rant deserves this insight.

Saban

It seems to me like Saban was born to be a brainiac. Maybe even destined for nerdom. But an agressive father and probaly a highly developed competitiveness (nerds have it too - Bill Gates is said to have been extremely competitive as a kid) pushed him into athletics. There his brain allowed him to compete and as a coach to excell. But it seems to sit ill at ease on him. I think that's why he comes off so abrasive.

Miles

Miles seems like he was born a happy go lucky type. Kind of a born jock. Big man on campus. Grew up carefee going out to gambling with his dad late at night and learning to take risks an play it safe in turn. Kind of the anti brainiac nerd type. Like the northern version of a good ole boy type. He excels at motivation and uses his personality to get good recruits and keep them productive.

Maybe. Here's another take on the two.
Nick Saban - has short man syndrom
Les Miles - does not have short man syndrom

I think Russel Shepard was productive. May not have been prolific.

His insecurities make him try to be a dickhole to establish himself as the "man" and have unquestioned authority

Miles is taller and doesn't have a short man complex

I honestly believes Saban is miserable in his life. He seems as though he is depressed and doesn't know how to cope with the real world. All he knows is football.

Miles is a happy guy.

wow, just wow.

now you understand why i love the rant. here you go w/ your opinion of two men and i sit back here and read YOUR mind.

our typing/posting is a direct view into our minds and hearts. most of what we see is what we are. all of what we judge is what we have inside of ourselves. we cannot see what others see w/ a clear heart/mind b/c we are prejudices toward self-preservation.

i see mostly good people on the rant, but the 10% of the posters i see as negative are expressing something within me, and i now try to find forgiveness and compassion right away.

it's from the oldschool, "judge not, lest ye be judged." that's not referring to god judging you, that is just you judging you.

lm is an inspirational man who does not use condemnation (which seems very prevalent by some posters-but that is just self-reflection.)

He's a grumpy a-hole for absolutely no reason. He's got the world by the tail, yet he's almost always got that "what-the-frick-do-you-want" look.
