Louisiana soccer player, Patrick Mullins, has been nominated for the NCAA MAC Hermann Trophy.

This is a huge accomplishment for Patrick and Louisiana Soccer. If you could take a second out of your day to go and vote Patrick Mullins for the award. Let's bring the trophy back to Louisiana!

There are two other Louisiana players that have won the MAC Hermann Trophy, Joseph Lapira (Notre Dame) Lake Charles, La and Jason Garey (Maryland) Gonzales, La.

He's a junior and a potential Generation Adidas candidate. If selected as a Generation Adidas player he can leave early to enter into MLS draft.

I guess you could consider Jason Kreis from Louisiana, even though he grew up playing his youth career in Omaha.

Jason Kreis never won the Hermann Trophy.

Yes he played in an international friendly in Ireland.

Last I heard he was playing in India and a Norwegian 2nd division team. Haven't heard much about him since.

Anyone know of his whereabouts?

While at Mandeville, he was also a standout performer for the Baton Rouge United Jags, a U-19 Select team that finished as national runner-up in 1991 and won the prestigious Capital Cup tournament in Washington, D.C.

WOW. Didn't know this. Pretty cool.

Was coming here to post this. So crazy that a guy I played against in high school is a finalist for the Hermann trophy.

And since I don't feel like making it a separate thread, how sad is it that ESPN's choice for POY in LA is not playing college ball and doesn't have the option to do so at LSU?

That guy schooled me (GK) and my last defender one time. I felt honored once he won the MAC Hermann.

He's not the first

Few things to consider:

1. We're hardly the best state at soccer.
2. When you're "not good enough" to play at a big time program, trying to play at a smaller program is not always worth the hassle. Coaches aren't exactly all over players throwing scholarship money at them.
3. Texans would probably outnumber Louisianians on a competitive LSU soccer team.

it's not Title IX, that's just the excuse. It's actually an issue with NCAA scholarship limitations.

regardless something needs to be done. Jason Kreis agrees
